I'm trying to decide between these two for splitting larger splits (approx. 6") into smaller pieces. I have the X27 but it's a little heavy to use one handed (holding the split with the other hand).

I picked up the x11 and it's big for a hatchet but definately not meant for 2 hands. Enough weight that I've been impressed what it will split, yet very manageable for one handed use.

    x11 is a 1.85lb head and 17 inches long. x17 is a 2.56lb head and 23.5 inches long.

I think the x17 might be the top end of what I'd want to handle one handed. But maybe you are a pretty big guy.

I use an x25 and a splitting block against my wood pile to resplit in my basement. Gotta be carefull about the headroom though.
