What is your mantle made of? Looks like a dark stained cedar with a high gloss finish. Pretty cool.
 
Got Wood your fireplace looks great, almost seems like the dog is ready for the opening of the gifts.

Walnut. The lighting makes it seem like high gloss. When we built the hearth, my wife and I finished the mantle from a raw walnut "board". It originally had bark on it but we decided to strip it off. Hand sanded it, stain and poly. We love the look now.
 
That looks awesome!! Great hearth and it compliments the nice looking insert...
