True, I also run non-ethanol gas in my smaller engines as well as the fuel shutoff. Helps quite a bit.

I will check into the shut off valves. The older Ariens snowblower my son gave me has a factory fuel shut off. Although the owners manual doesn't specify it, the routine he used which I do now is to turn off the valve when done until the engine stops. Sounds like a good way to burn off leftover fuel. Sounds like maybe not a 100% effective, so maybe some carburetor cleaner as well at times.
