i so want one of those, but whats holding me back is that im concerned about whats in the pellets. i know theres a specific type of pellets that are used for cooking, but how do you know for sure there are no "other materials" in there...

i have a huge gas grill that i love to use when guests are over, but when its just the wife and I (and the dog) theres no substitute for our charcoal fired kettle grill! not to mention charcoal is cheaper to run than propane.

we (ESW) will have one out very soon. they are pretty neat we've been cooking out for lunch at the plant on one for several weeks now.

as for pellets there are "gourmet" pellets available but we've been cooking with lignetics, noting but wood in em, only additive they use is a slight amount of veggie oil to lubricate the dies on the extruder

Got a bunch of Green Labels and Presto-Logs.

As much as you mention the Green Labels, I am guessing thats the brand you are talking about.

Im ready for both of the "Cans".... So is my Wife. Been yappin for an hour about them now!!

Need a new Grill this year too..... !! ligs.jpg ligs2.jpg

Can't wait to get one.

I believe the ESW stoves are going to be a Fast Eddy/Cookshack and ESW colaboration. FE/Cookshack units are pretty much the Cadillac of pellet smokers, so this unit should be a good one. I personally use specific cooking pellets in my smoker but i know of at least one member here that uses regular pellets and i believe he cooks with Turmans which are, i believe, 100% oak.

I own a MAK 2 star, love it. I actually burn Turman pellets....they are all red oak and high quality......I have tried the mesquite, the maple, the Jack Daniels, and hickory pellets, and couldnt taste the difference....since the Turmans are considerably cheaper than the aformentioned alternatives, I use them......love the grille, its digital, pretty simple to use, but there is a slight learning curve! Dont know much about the traeger.

Mike,
Are you shooting for @ the same price point? Big box availability for this summer? How about a retro-kit for existing grills? (too much liability?)

hoping to have the grill out this summer, but im not sure its gonna happen en masse as we would have had to have stocked a boatload of them, my best guess is big box next spring

as for a "retro kit" im not sure what you are asking

What about the stove? Will it be out in Full Force before next season??

still up in the air bro, depends on the buyers. i should know more in the coming weeks

Well.... If it matters any. You may have one here. Been looking at the CPM and after today, I am pretty confident thats what I will buy if this stove isnt debuted soon. I already have a couple Englanders. Definitely not afraid to add another.
Gonna sell a Quad to get an Englander. Tell that to your Boss. (I know your Senior Tech, but someone has to be above you).

Looking forward to the new grill also. Hope you can get some pics up soon. Just the sight of the "Beer Can" may make me wait it out... !!

i'll see what i can find out, gotta see da boss this week sometime anyway

Thanks Mike.... Appreciate it man.

so far as i can find out, boss wants to push the grill, the IP stove may well be a "lowes SOS" item, special order, we're going to limit construction on this unit first year to guage sales on it as it is quite a departure from our standard "look". aside from that i really dont know much, we burned one last winter in a setup we have in our company break room and it was pretty impressive, stove burned for quite a long period of time between cleanouts and just kept slogging on. good points ive seen, the unit will burn and burn between cleanouts, "euro"look the stove is roughly cylindrical, its a tall stove the front "cover" opens up to expose the firebox door and ash drawer door the sides will either swing out or lift off (hasnt been decided yet) rear acess panel is screwed on, the stove will be stupid easy to work on in the back with the sides opening like they do, i doubt anyone would ever need to remove the rear access panel for any reason. will have dual stat options (hi/lo and on/off)
downsides, for as big a stove as it is physically it doesnt have a huge hopper, looks like 50-60 lbs is all it will hold, being tall its a bit higher lift to fuel the hopper, there will likely not be any "trim" packages" "bling bling" etc. and its pellet only, no multifuel option.
overall though i think its gonna be a successful unit.

i do love my job, tedious though it can be sometimes. its a lot of hard work physically at times and quite mentally challenging in the customer service season (lots of "abstract thought, you have to be able to put yourself in front of the customers stove and "see it" to diagnose it) some of the hardest work i do is "in season' service work, its draining im usually worn out by the time i get home having only typed and thought for the whole day. its rewarding as well, especially dealing with you guys in here. (even my liberal friends:mad: its all good) helping folks, turning negatives into positives. face it , when folks call me they are either bummed, sad or mad, first step in the road to getting them heat is to get past that and into the "tell me where it hurts" part of the call. see, i KNOW my capabilities, but getting "john q" on the other end of the line to understand they CAN do whats necessary to have heat NOW is the tricky part. there is a "knack" nessesary for that, i was lucky enough to be blessed with it. i myself have been on the other end of calls (cable company , internet etc.) and have experienced what folks who call me do. granted its easier to follow a phone center type when i am one, usually i get great support. i understand that frustration so its easier for me to number one , allay the fears, "tame the savage beast from time to time" and get folks to help themselves. you'd be amazed though to know how much it tires you out.

as for the "release" im being as big a nuisence as i can get away with to get permission to post pics of the IP and the grill, but i promise you this will be where they debut (unless the boss pulls a fast one on me)

BTW, i see you are in eric's territory NE Ohio. my wife is from Akron, her family is up there , i may have to plan a little "side trip next time i get up that way, been meaning to look in on eric over in Kinsman anyway, have to see about getting together when i next find time to get up that way

Eric is about 1.5 hrs from me. But I still would go to him (and have) before I go to another dealer. He is a Stand up guy.

I live West of Akron. About 40 minutes from downtown. Whether its at Erics Shop or a local Pub. It would be my pleasure..

Thanks for all the info Mike. I would love to wait on the new Stove (IP) but my mind has been going in circles and the CPM (with its agitator) has me sold. I live in Corn Country. One day I may find a viable source. But until then, it can only help with pellet combustion (stirring up). Been wanting one for 2 years now.

But the Pellet Grill.. That may be finding a home in my garage very soon. Been looking at the $400 (tragaer jr) and if your model has an electronic board, I will be easily swayed.

You have a knack for this. Your ability to put yourself in front of someones stove, thousands of miles away, is a talent in itself. We try to do the same thing here. But via the net may be easier (less time constraint) and we are not vested in to the person (or customer for you).

Thanks again for all the info you provide.

im going to tell you somthing though its not from first hand experience. i have spoken to a few folks who have used the trager pellet grill and not been happy with it, seems it doesnt get as hot as they want it to. even if you dont buy one of mine , keep this in mind when you do shop for one

BTW ours does have a brain, it is electronically controlled

how about a convertible pellet stove? i'd buy it if in the winter it heated my house, and in the summer i can wheel it outside and grill a few steaks!

that would be sweeeeeet!
