Hello

Well, The augers are now cranking out the pellets very well.

Englander 25-PDV 5 yo Merkle Korff Ind Top Auger Motor quits after long warm up

However the stove did not auto start.

I could easily see that the ignitor was not doing it's job. Since it worked the last 2 times, the control panel seems ok and supplying the voltage. I can test that to make sure.

Anyways, I pulled the ignitor for the bench testing.
See pics below.

The ignitor got all Orange and hot in the middle but not at the tip. see yellow arrow.

So my question is:
Should the ignitor get real hot at the end to properly light the wood pellets?

Actually, I asked Englander that same question, and they said it all should get red except the very tip.

IMO, yours should ignite the pellets no problem.

Might want to talk to Mike....there might be an ignitor "adjustment" that can be made.

Thanks Pete

But when you say the very tip, how many inches are we talking?
I just measured it. Looks like about 1/2 inch?

Thanks Pete

That's just about what the tech said...all except about the very last 1/2".

I will put it back in tomorrow and test it more.

Hey Pete
On the ESW web site there is a E- Code FAQ that contains the Ignitor alignment info that will cause the error. I will try it tomorrow.

2. Igniter out of position: The igniter must have a standoff, which allows air to pass the tip to light the pellets. If the igniter rod is positioned too close to the hole into the pot, the air cannot get past the tip to light the pellets. Adjusting the igniter back to allow for a larger air gap should correct the problem.

he igniter lights pellets with hot air ,to make this happen hot air must move out through the hole to the pellets , think air in/air out. a good flow of air needs to be present. check the igniter tip through teh hole in teh pot, it should be relatively centered and it should be back far enought to provide ample air passage, about a 1/8 inch gap between the tipof the igniter rod and the back side of the hole. if this is present then check the inlet fo rthe igniter to make sure its clear. most common cause for E-2 with a hot igniter is mispositioning not allowing air either in, or out, mostly out

Right on Mike

I just made the adjustment so I can see a gap now between the igniter and the burn chamber. Then I started the stove. Bingo!

Igniter works great!
