Still burning . . . mostly morning and evening fires.

yeah same here
still burning pretty steady

Uh oh, a couple nights in the 30s coming up. Looks like I'm not quite done.

J, have you got your stove in yet? :)

The weather man said "hard freeze" tonight for me. After 2 nights off the stove will be burning again.

I made a fire last night as it dipped below freezing. Also burned down my brush pile on Monday. Supposed to be a nice day today but they are calling for showers tomorrow and some single digit highs after that so more fires are in order.

I'm still burning and will be for the next week if it stays where they are calling, high 50s lo 30ish. I've got a bunch a junk wood that won't last another year before it loses too many BTUs so it's perfect for right now. Not to mention I'm making room to a score that I'll be working in about a month.

On your question, I would say that I'm looking at about 2.5 cord total.

Shut the biach down last week, firing up in evening this week. hitting 20's this week at night. Next week not getting out of the 40's again. Weather this year is wayyyyy f'd up!!!!!!!!!!!

I gotta smile with pride. I had just gotten it split a couple days prior and the forecast was for rain. The deal was they HAD to get it into the shed and there WOULD be a cooperative effort. I came home from work and I helped them finish up just the small pile that remained, in just a few hours. There was no blood, no tears and they were actually getting along. Boys will be boys, but that day I had a lot to be thankful for. Blessings come in small packages.

Somewhere in this place there's a thread asking how much a crew can cut, split and stack in a day. Now that I have an idea I'll hunt it down and post it.

My brother will be 60 this year, and I'll be, um, younger. Still.==c
We still disagree, yeah, that's it, from time to time, but we also work together pretty well most of the time.
Blessings come in all shapes and sizes,.... sounds like you have at least 2 of 'em.

Oh I have more than that. I run out of fingers counting. You really don't want me to take of my shoes and keep going.

This is just nuts. The wife asked for a fire this morning. It's not supposed to go above freezing today and may dip down to -9°C tonight. More of the same through the week.

I've used more kin'lin and Super Cedars the last month than the previous part of the season.

I hear you on the kindling. I have started more fires this winter than in the previous 2 or 3! At least I have gotten better at it.

We are now running mostly on the heat pump. There will be some occasional nightime fires, but that will probably be all. I'm going to call this season at 2.75 cords.

Here in Maine we burn well into May. By that time, though, it's usually just a quick small morning fire on a damp drizzly day. April's another story, we had a fire going all morning on Easter Sunday, with snow and sleet coming down.

All told it's going to be right about 2 cords by the time June rolls around (wood stove is only heat source, but house is very well-insulated).

SeeYa: Lean year. Burned half what we normally burn due to the jet stream
flying north of New England this winter. Which is fine by me, 'cuz we got our
collective asses kicked in August and Halloween. Halloween pruned back
our foliage more than I'd care mention since the snow stuck to still-leafy trees.
Snapped many branches.

Oil bill suffered for it which is a good thing. Of course, speculation will make
sure I pay anyway. With that, wood prices go up accordingly. So I've been
taking out dead ashes in our woods, free for the taking. I figger in a few years
I'll have cleared out all the trees out back and I can open a public golf course.

Occasional evening and weekend fires here in north-central MA.

We've done about 2.75 cords this year.

Some days, the house won't dip below 63 degrees, or so, even without an overnight or daytime fire. If we're not here much, that doesn't bother us. But, I'll spark one up every night or two, just to keep us toasty!

Its been nearly 7 months since I created this thread. Tonight the lows are back in the 30s and high tomorrow isn't supposed to get over 50. But next week we are going to have upper 70s here so I'm going to hold off a few more weeks if possible. I bet some of you are already burning steadily again.

East of Boulder, CO, we had an awfully hot, long summer, w/ wildfires, drought, etc. The prevailing winds were ALWAYS out of the Desert Southwest. BUT: Two days ago, it was clear and 82. Two nights ago, and last night as well, it dropped below freezing. 'Supposed to snow and sleet today, with a low in the mid 20s tonight. That's two to three weeks early for the first freeze, and we usually don't get snow until Halloween, or so.

The Jotul is roaring in the living room, thank you very much. 'Wasn't going to rent a compressor for the lawn sprinkler system for another week -- but now I have a heat lamp on the above-ground pipes, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll try to get that done this weekend, if the store isn't all out because of other similarly minded customers.

2.75 cords last season, BTW.

Not consistent but occasionally, like this morning:p.

Done had 2 fires this fall not burning today yet may hold off till tomorrow morning house ant that cool yet.

Forecast for tomorrow is a high of 47 with a low of 34.

I burned a whole hell of alot less than I did the year before. I judging by what was left over maybe 8 face cords, usually do 10 or 11

Gonna close this one folks. No need to have people scrolling through 150 posts of last years news to find a new one.
