Latest update projects lights back on sometime late Monday.

BB, we drove through that chit last night on our way home from the outer banks....I-95 looked like a tree service was tearing trees out for a hundred mile stretch......trees had fallen on cars on the interstate! Never seen so many trees down before in a single area like that. There had to be a tornado or two. Lightning was nonstop for several hours of driving...

Straight line 60 mile an hour wind with 80 MPH gust are hurricane force wind. That will mess up a whole bunch of stuff. We got the 60 MPH briefly since that was the speed of the storm. Fortunate not to get the rest of it. I won't be lacking in branches to clear for a long time.

Everybody stay cool and safe out there. We are uptown now. I just hauled a load of water for flushing duty.

Oh! That's pretty important. We're lucky that gravity feeds water to our house pretty well.

When we don't have juice for the well pump gravity keeps our water 103 feet under the ground.

Only thing I went through back there that was even close was Isabel in '03...but she came in September. Stay safe, soldier. Rick

Power companies are saying this one matched or exceeded Isabel. I believe it. Tonight's storms seemed to be passing South of us so it is just feed the genny and hope that lil sucker doesn't melt down. Fired the big one and it is ill. Our outage is something that happens regularly. Limb or squirrel hits a line and pops the fuse on the pole down by the road on my driveway and only knocks out half the neighborhood. Usually fixed in an hour by this exceptional bunch of folks working for our co-op. Problem this time is that they had 25,000 others including the 911 center and hospitals to get back up first.

Lineman do not get near the recognition they deserve. Most years I go to the annual co-op meeting just to take the mike and thank'em. Me and the CEO and the Right of Way Supervisor don't agree on a few items but the crews are the best on the planet. When lines weave through as many miles of trees as these do, chit is gonna happen. And happen and...

We be cool and fine. Just tired. And the cat wants to know when that noisy contraption is gonna be shut off.

Sounds nasty, BB. Atleast you have juice.

I hate lugging water, have to do it here myself when the power is out.

Glad to hear you don't have any major damage and all are safe BB. I hope they have your power back up and running soon.

This is where I rode it out...

Actually, when I noticed the sky starting to cloud up, I looked at the radar on my phone, and we got stuff packed up in a hurry. We made it to a substantial building before it got ugly. We planned on leaving Saturday anyway, but we had to rough it Friday night, with no a/c

The wind coming at us through the trees was amazing. It sounded like a jumbo jet, until it hit us. Then it was the sound of branches breaking and trees falling. Kinda scary. We live in pretty wide open farm country. Winds like that in the woods was a new experience for me.

At least we got to leave it. Feel bad for y'all that have to live with the heat and no power. It's gonna be a few days.

Our lights came back on at 12:13am.

Get some more gasoline, BB.

At least the price of the stuff is coming down

Do you have water stock piled? Or do the gennies run the well pump?

I can't believe Godzilla can whup on a global storm. That will be interesting.

Uh oh, looks like much more serious stuff is coming for your neck of the woods BB. Hot stuff heading toward Richmond. Get out the Nomex suit. !!! >>

Exactly what our local guy says. ;lol
