Pay Gamma no mind,, BB

For you

Thank ya kindly ma'am. 1984 was a good year and Footloose was a good one. The last time me and little sis, now 60, could still clear off the dance floor with a tune. That one. ::-)

True story. As a brand new Navy Ensign, I was the Main Propulsion Assistant aboard USS Reasoner (FF 1063) when this video was shot aboard the ship, (moored pierside in NAVSTA San Diego). It was amazing. Big old catering van and a slew of limos & buses on the pier. Seemed to take forever. I've no idea how many times that f*ing song blared over the deafening sound system they set up for the boys to lip sync to. I think it was someone's brilliant idea that this would be great for Navy recruiting. Turned out to be kind of an embarassment for the Navy back then (1978) because not long after this video went public, it also became public that some or all of the Village people guys were (gasp! !!!) gay!. Go figure...who'd've thought  ? I think my C.O. got a bit of a dope slap over this "incident". The Navy pulled the ad pronto, and I'm not sure they ever again looked to Disco for recruiting material. ;lol

This was the song that was the most fun on the floor in the seventies.

Quintessential. When I hear the word Disco, something in my head immediately starts up the "Stayin' Alive" tape. Then, of course, it's extremely difficult to shut off. Thanks <>

Pulled an R&R in Tokyo in 1970 and ran into disco for the first time. It was huge there then before Saturday Night Fever came along and it caught on in the States. Found out that having knees that still worked, oh I miss those things, made for a fun week. Got back to the States later that year and found that dancing beat pickup lines any night of the week. ;)

But Travolta ended up with the 707 in his back yard.

wowza...Travolta had some good moves..now he friggin creeps me out big time...;sick
I have been known to "clear" many dance floors....maybes that is why I have to wear a knee brace now dammit to hell...<>::-)

on the album this is followed by "Vital Juices" which is a jam based on the same hook. Widespread Panic does this song justice if ya dig.

When our knees still worked me and Gamma could have cleared the whole building with this one. ;lol
