In The Woods
We had two that were down so I grabbed them today, 70 plus rounds split and debarked. This should fill out the stack I started the other night.

Great pictures AU.
Nice straight grained wood in big rounds.
Jealousy ;)
You get it all the time, every now & then i get one & it's a joy to split & stack. :)

Excellent, looks like it was a nice day there to tackle that beauty

Bogydave, I think we only have cut up about 4-5 downed bigtooth aspens, it burns hot & fast. With a load of the aspen in the Liberty the stovetop temp can get to 800.
CageMaster, it was windy with some rain but turned out to be a great day.

another nice haul of shoulder wood, Zappy. great pics too, did the bark peel off easily?

I can almost smell that stuff from here zap. Check me if I'm wrong but wasn't you burning some of that when we paid you a visit?

Scotty Overkill, most of it did, man the bark smells that is why I took it off.
Sav, yes it was, I remember driving my wife nuts, running outside making sure no smoke was coming out the stack when Mr. & Mrs. Sav came rolling up the driveway.

It does smell a bit but still is much better than willow.

Speaking of willow, I have to go to a neighbor's place and raze him a bit because yesterday I saw him with a small bit of willow in his trailer. I'll spread it on a bit thick...

Never burned that stuff before, sounds like the willow I refuse to burn!
I never have smelled burning willow but the bigtooth aspen is not bad, I'm hoping with the bark removed it will be a bit better.

Trust me, you don't want to either. But if you really REALLY want to know exactly how willow smells, take a PI$$ on some hot coals the next time you build a fire. Willow smells just like that!!
Because of the lack of rain (burn ban on until October) the pizz test will have to wait.

Yes it is PapaDave.

Zap , my first question was why bother spending all the effort removing the bark? Time is precious and I certainly would have fixed that broken log splitter first! Its still pointing to the sky! :)

Nice pics zap.

Zap I gotta ask, with all the pics you post of trees you buck and split how much do you have on hand? Got to be more than a few cord

With the shoulder season wood I cut this year I'll have 23 plus cord.(not face) I'm pretty much done the shoulder season wood so it's back up top for some maple, cherry and birch.

I would like another 2 cord of hardwood by the end of October.

That is impressive, I am excited to have about a third of that done here. Have a long way to go
