Hello all, I'd like to share some thoughts about this site and its followers. For starters, A Big Thankyou to all you" Seasoned wood stove Junkies" that have helped with us newer EPA stove owners. ( I think I can thankfully speak for alot of us ) Way better info than even most the stove shops I've been to.
Although I have not been a member on here for very long, I think I'm on this site way to much. I learn alot, laugh alot, and sometimes ask myself who in the world let this person buy a stove. LOL
Todd ( the 1st ) told me " You hang around this site to long and you'll get the sickness" Well... since I've been reading on here I have my PE sold, have a PH on order, I wonder if I ordered the stove I really want, would a liner help, dry black locust RULES, have over 20 peoples names, there stoves there chimney height and what kind of wood they burn memorized, and growing. I'm on here more than i watch TV, woman tells me " are you on there again" guys at work think I've lost it selling a perfectly good stove ( ordered one I've never seen in person, plus made of stone ) that really got them !
Changing my wood supply to 3 yr dried, Chose a hybrid stove cause reading hundreds of threads on here about every ones cat or non cat stove will make one loose their mind. LOL Truth be known though, I really enjoy it , and I think I'm getting it. Keep the threads rollin people, this is good stuff, and a big warm wood heat winter to all. Todd 2

Caution ' We are all sick in here" and it sounds like we have another recruit. My wife calls this site FaceBook for wood burners lol. Its fun stuff as a kid I would have never thought in a million years I would be so obsessed with wood burning but here i am. The team members on this site make it really fun to be a part of and watch out you may learn something in the process. Good luck Todd we look forward to your post.

I have no idea what this sickness is that you are talking about. Are you telling me that buying 1-2 stoves a year for five years is not normal?!

Sure it is. BBar, meet dear Abbie.

I understand. Same here. My father in law that just passed away 1 year ago and I never really understood why he was so obsessed with wood burning. Every time I went over his house he would fill me on burning techniques, his new stoves, his stockpile of wood etc. I thought to myself, man you must really be bored to care about this stuff. Then when I got ready to work on our existing stove, it kinda came together for me. Stoves are cool. The way they are made, the science and the whole thing is an art form really. I have always been a survivalist and living in Maine and burning wood is just another extension of it. Taking it to a higher level takes work and effort and knowledge. The Work and Effort I had when I started and was short on knowledge other than basic woodburning. Reading on here and contributing has helped me out a lot and there are many people on here who really know what is up when it come to wood stoves and wood burning.

Just like your wood....well seasoned...;)

Its not a sickness its a family off burners ;) just think if all our stoves where put together in one spot and lit all at once ! Now thats a sick ( awesome ) thought . Actually Todd 2 I have met and become good friends with a few people through this site and it really is a family environment.

I know I have the sickness. Its friday night, the weekend is here, glad I'm done work, but can't wait till sunday night, with mid 30's and lighting up the stove.

Todd 2,
You really cannot go wrong here on "The Hearth". Not saying you will agree with everything either, but it has been my experiences here that helped me choose a stove, and prepare for it. I have learned more here than on any other forum and that includes alot of web surfing! By the way, the sickness will only get worse.
Take care,
Tim

Sick indeed, I'm showing great restraint in not turning this into a Young Frankenstein movie line quoteathon. One of the funniest movies ever!
Ah, gee can't help myself: "Well then, he must have an enormous Schwanstucker"

I knew I had a problem when Craig asked me to be a moderator!!!!
