Only went back a couple pages and i bet this was brought up before...

What's up with these? Whoever has them do you like them? Gonna buy one this week for sure unless you guys say not to ;)

Did you win LOTTO or something recently? ;lol They're certainly not cheap....

Wouldnt mind trying one sometime but its a big risk with all the yardbirds I normally get for milling etc.

Expensive and not really necessary imho.

Plus how do you sharpen them? I imagine you'd need diamond and traditional files wouldnt make a dent.

I think they'd be great for the guy who has a little extra coin in his pocket and hates sharpening.

Yep, gotta be sharpened with a diamond wheel. They're also known to lose the carbide tips off the cutters when they contact hard objects. Look up rescue chain.Iirc most fire depts. only use em once. A C

Yikes, considering the price tag on a loop of rescue chain can be approaching $200!

The price tag on Stihl's DURO chain for smaller saws is much more modest, I haven't cut with any but I'd be real tempted to try one too. Make sure someone in your area has the proper wheel on a grinder to sharpen one of these before you drop big coin on a loop.

Finally you ask the question! You are now well one your way to being the finest chain sharpener in ont canada! ;)

Between the price and what you guys said, I bought the standard Stihl chain ;) Thanks eh!

But they changed the chain? The drive has dimples in it now and a groove also? Thinking it has something to do with the oil lube? And they also went back to the old cutters?

Not complaining at all..just something i found out about when i opened the box ::-)

Huh, haven't seen that yet. Same guess as your's, better oiling? A C

That looks like full-chisel Picco Super to me. Haven't seen the dimpled drive links yet either. What was the marketing number (short part numer, something like 63PS3-55) of the chain?

Nice pic btw.

Seems like a good idea AC

Here are the only numbers i could find Mech...

Also the woods i cut in had been fenced many many years ago and there is alot of hidden wire in the old tree's, which i have found the odd time by accident :p :)

we have carbide on our vent saws at the firedept. The teeth are solid round and cut at an angle. They will rip through nails, tin, gussets, siding and maybe even a car top if needed. The price on these approach 300 i think. We can have a roof vented in a snap with these.

Hmmm, .325 Rapid Super, pretty common stuff, great chain! What saw is it going on? I see it's .050 gauge which means it's not going on a Stihl.... ;)

That's rescue chain, on derivative of carbide chain. Very tough chain. I cut through an old work bench with it, went right through the nails and 1/4" lags. Only tore up a couple cutters (ripped the tooth right off the cutter strap) but I guess $300 is chump change when lives are on the line. Wouldn't be my first choice for cutting cars open however. Emma doesn't look like she approves of this purchase . . . I think she would have been more happy with some Scooby Snacks.

Just a thought, the dimples would hold the oil better. They had to do something to help out the stingy "EPA" oilers of the newer saws.

The fella at the store said something about that today Fife

Heres Emma's new addition jake;)

A nice and light 170 :)

Loon it looks like the pooch is on point. Maybe you could rent her out to people that have lost there saws in the woods.:)

Oh man...i can relate to that!

The mutt in my avatar rolls in it too!

That look she is giving is her "yea...i rolled in it...so what?" look.

Yep the 2 in my avatar are terrific at finding great stuff like that. Ain't worth squat when I misplace my glasses or keys though.

Just got in from a couple cold days at the Deer camp guys and Emma/Buddy are smelling like roses right now ::-)
We'll go for a run on the farm tomorrow and fix that good smell quick <> :)
