Well, I ordered a blue/black version of this stove to replace a small "old timer" woodstove I have had for a looooong time. I will have the jotul in my family room, we actually use a Montpellier to heat the house and the small stove for some bonus heat. I really wanted to see the flames!

Not a lot of info on the jotul here, how am I going to like it?

There are lots of posts on this little stove. We had one about 8 years back. It's a good area heater and supplemental stove. Looks great in blue-black enamel.

+1 on the looks & the heating. It's a really popular stove in this area. You'll enjoy it.

Had one in our old house and we loved it. It's perfect for the set-up you're describing.

I think you'll be pleased. The olny issue I had with it was the small firebox. So I guess I liked it enough to want more of it ; )

I have a simlar set up, the montpellier in the living room and a Jotul 602 in the kitchen. Really like that little stove.
Except beign small burn times are low. But it can crank out heat.

I love mine, only complaint is small firebox so it needs feeding more often. But it burns great, good air flow, glass stays clean.... For looks, i actually like it better than my larger Oslo because the F3 has perfect ratios (height, width etc) so she sits tall and proud overlooking any hearth/room. You will love that stove and get lots of compliments from visitors too :)

If being used to warm up a family room it should be great. My Jotul dealer actually thought I could use if for my 1,100 space but I passed on it and went with the next size up, the Castine. He has been a dealer for 30 years and wanted me to trust his assesment, but my gut told me too small for 1,100 feet. The stove you purchased has a great parlor stove look - you should do well for the application you described

We bought a blue/black last year in October . We have been very pleased with the stove . Great looks and great heater . The secondaries and fun to watch .

Make sure you do you 3 break in fires and enjoy the stove . I have some post and photos from my install last year if you want to check the out .

I have currently have one. We knew its' size limitations as we had the little brother F-100 prior to it. It is no slouch on throwing heat and suits our needs just fine. B/B enamel is really great and always looks clean. I'm done re-painting stoves with matte black. It is easy to run and a nice looking heater.

I read as much as I could and it seemed like the right choice for me. I don't really think I'm worried about long burn times and I have to be careful to not make the tv room too hot. I thought a lot about getting a Woodstock keystone but it's not as easy when you live in Canada. I really like the look of the jotul and it seemed like the best choice for my situation. I will post photos when I get it

Thanks for all the advice and keep convincing me I made the right choice!

If the tv room starts getting hot, take a fan, placed on the floor outside of the room and gently blow cooler air into the room. That will cool down the room, but it will also help convect the stove heat into the rest of the house.

I own one in matte black and love this stove. I heat about 1400 sq ft (700 upstairs , 700main floor) or there abouts. we burn 24/7 and the about the time the first flooe and living room are cooking too hot, the house turns over and the heat goes up the stairs. Upstair bedroom run about 63-65 and downstairs runs about 70-71. My heat comes on once each night about 0300 and i set it on 62, 63 or so. i have a single zone hydroponic with cast iron baseboard and some cast radiators that i have added since moving in 11 yrs ago. i wake up in the mornings for work at 0445, and have plenty of coals to get a relight off of. when i am off and sleep in till 0600, still have enough coals for a restart except first floor is chilly; but we enjoy hanging out right now in the living room together.

This is one of the suggestions I wanted to hear on how I should move air out of the room in which the stove is in Begreen.

We have been using the fan idea and it works great!

This is the start of the 6th season for me and around 20 cords have gone through this stove all total. I have an outside chimney that gets cleaned once a year from me and a couple more times by the %$#@!!! birds.Other than getting a face full of gray ash and the odd black flake, it's pretty clean.
I really like the simplicity of the F3cb, it's very easy to operate and nigh on to being bullet-proof. That being said, however, I do wish it was a bit bigger, maybe a half cubic foot bigger firebox but I am happy with it anyway.
