Just couldn't wait for the weekend to cut up one of these puppies to find out what is in there.:)

Whats in there on that one tulip. ;)

I find it easier to use the splitter in the upright position. For those big rounds.

I do...for the "bigger than that" rounds. I use the bucket as a work bench. Split in half, push one side in the bucket and knock out the other side, then on to the other half and reapeat. Less bending over makes me more productive for the long hall. Lots of Ibuprofen before bed time! _g

I'm 143 in the morning but i get down to 72 or 73 in the afternoon, some weekends if I'm lucky i will even feel in my 40's

LOL!!!! I just spewed my coffee all over the screen! Good thing I'm at work.

nice....i have a little JD 1026R with front end loader and mower but no back hoe. the bucket loader saves a bunch on a old tired back. plus, fill the bucket with wood and take it to the splitter or take the splits to the drying pile. i have the 27 ton splitter.....most of my splitting is done vertical. easier right now for me because i have some big rounds. matter of fact...i hear my little diesel calling now.;)

cass

Sounds soooo familiar. Love my tractor!!

Nice setup there.
How much wood do you reckon you can you process in a week, say?

No clue, never done this before. Speed is not on the short list right now.

What do you mean, "don't laugh"? Do you really think anyone with good sense would do it any other way if they had a machine like that?LOL The only thing better I could think of was a skid steer with grapple bucket. More maneuverable. So, yeah, what kind of log is it? Looks like a black birch.....

Not black birtch. I have 4 of them growing nicely in my yard....just growing and waiting!

Wow ,if i had the cash i'd have one of those too. Thats nice .

Had that long before the wood stove and this new addiction!

Prepare yourself....you will need more toys...;) I have been selling off older tractors and replacing some of them. I am looking for a smaller tractor with FIL...might have to look into a backhoe for it...hmmm Just look what you started...ha

Pretty nice setup. Maybe I'm jealous, but I can't help but think that I could buy a LOT of split firewood, and have them stack it for me, for the $$$ you have invested in machinery. If had/needed it already, then more power to ya. Maybe you just have a bigger toy budget than I do.

Well, I already had the tractor. The cost of oil directed me to put in an EPA rated wood stove. Around here 150 gallons of oil is roughly 500-600 dollars. From my research, 150 gallons of oil is equal to +/-1 cord of wood in this stove. Buying wood c/s and delivered is 275-350 and not so seasoned properly. This grapple load if it is say 8 cord, works out around 65 - 75 per cord.
