I know you'd like it to be different, but it really is pretty. I grew up with fog...SF bay area. Rarely ever see fog where I live now, and when I do, it's usually freezing fog...even prettier, but can be very dangerous for traveling. Seems our Indian Summer is lingering down here in the central Oregon high desert...sunny & clear, reaching 70°F most afternoons, low 30°F's at night. Can't last too much longer before our temps plummet. Nice pic of your Alaskan fog, actually makes me a bit nostalgic. Rick

Dave always has snow. His grass has learned to adapt. :p

Huh, who woulda thunk.

Hey Dave - send some of your fog over to Rick - it'll make me feel better.::-)
(Been running my stove daily for 3 weeks now).

I burned in my shop stove Fri, Sat, Sun...warmed up a bit now, so I'm not...but this ain't gonna last long. <>

Be thankful for those temperatures Dave. It won't last long now.

IMO, you made a good move;)
At your elevation, cold nights but warm days the norm , do you need fires yet or does the heat of the day hold thru the night still?.
Lived in K Falls 5 years. I liked being on the East side of the Cascades. Average is 265 days of sunshine & watching the storms hit the Mountains :)
Got a good picture of the Sisters? Bet they've got some new snow.

How was fire season there?

Green Grass???

Few heavy frosts but no below 20 temps yet.
Hoping to be able to mow & get the leaves/grass in the compost bin.
Forecast to be dry& in the 40s for a while, may get to it yet.

Thankful? Yes
BUT!
No need to mention that.
No need at all. :) LOL

I'm not one who tries to hurry winter in.
I have no doubt, it'll come.

All my trees are Junipers...they're always green.

Well your bushes in the yard still have leaves ;)
My pansies are still blooming & I ate turnip & lettuce from the garden yesterday.
Few slugs with all the rain, but a fresh salad with some protein is still good this time of the year. ;)

Yes, warm days & cold nights. I've only burned in my shop stove three days so far, then it warmed back up a bit...won't be long, though. Used the electric furnace in the house a couple of mornings...just not worth firing up the Lopi to simply let it burn out. No new snow on the Cascades yet this year...but I do have a very nice view of them from my house. When they get pretty I'll post a pic. Fire season was I guess what you'd call "normal"...we did have one particularly big nasty fire just north of North Sister. Lots of forest burned, but minimal damage to structures. Fire season seems to be about over now (I hope). Stay warm. Rick

The clouds are finally rolling into Seattle now. Today was our first all grey day in months. AK looks just like here today, but with no rain and brown lawns. We just blew past the 80 day record, though rain is predicted to be coming by Friday.

Well you know it was coming.
You had a great run of beautiful weather, while we had one of the wettest coolest summers on record.
Hope you got outside & enjoyed it every day :)

We got to what everybody here knows I call woodburner's hell early. Thirties last night. Ain't doing it this early. Just turned on the space heaters. But from here to December it will be "heat it up" "cool it back down". I live in shoulder season from October till December and then go like hell till April and then start the game again.

Just backing off and burning the sucker around the clock is the best part of the year. Wish I had a furnace for the rest of it.

Last few days was that here. Cool at night, but not real cold. House overheated. Got to 53 yesterday & today 55 & sunny in the afternoon.
I can adjust for some things but not that much variance. I let the stove go out. Waking up at 3 AM with the house 77° was just to warm.
45 at 8:30 PM now. No fire.

It's been cool this summer, but really dry. We are threatened with the first real rain in 82 days tomorrow.
