Why is the list of Threads not in chronological order?

There is some kind of weighting algorithm used to decide which thread gets listed before another. Threads with lots of replies and/or views get shuffled to the top, new ones go quickly to the bottom if not replied to in big numbers. I thought the old forum based the order chronologically.

Can this be made more flexible so we can chose to list them chronologically?

They list based on time of latest reply.

Just like the old forum. As far as I see.

Yup, that's how come you can "bump" a thread. If it has received few or no reply posts, it will drift down and right off the front page if there's other activity. Put a post in the thread, and it pops right back up to the top of the heap.

Even if the last reply before the bump was in 2005.

Eeek!! Zombies !!!

I think you can change the display options for a list of threads - at the bottom - see pic enclosed.

I'll be danged...I never knew that was there. It's in such faint baby blue, my tired old eyes just never noticed it before. <>

Me either. Does this thing wash dishes too?

My thread order was based on # of replies or views until I messed with the "thread display options" that Craig kindly pointed out.(I did not know it was there).

The funny thing is the blue box WAS ALREADY SELECTED to order by "Last message time", but I had to click "set options" for it to work!

Thanks ;lol

I remember that little feature was what made me realize how ancient our old forums were!

Note - you can click the column headings (views, etc) to do the same thing quickly...I assume it is then just for that particular time...

By the time I figure out all these great new features, you will move to a new forum again!!!:oops:
