2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 PSD with a 14 foot flatbed trailer I made 30+ years ago. Pics are from a couple of years ago when HD and Lowes were having their pellet wars. I still have 4+ tons left from the 10+ I started with.

I get my pellets in bulk deliveries... much easier now that i have this new truck...

I guess it all boils down to what you are comfortable with. I have a 89 F150 4x4 with a 302.

Stupid Load #1: 2900 lb load of gravel in the bed. Just because it fits in the bed does not mean it is a good idea.
Stupid Load #2: our 16' trailer and either the skid steer (New Holland 170) or tractor (Massey 461)
Stupid Load #3: My last stupid load. I took the 16' trailer and picked up 3 pallets of Mesa Block (2500lb/each). I was hauling a 10,000 lb load and one of my brake connectors didn't connect. I slid through a traffic light with no brakes.

I have had a 3/4 ton f250 diesel and that hauled everything I ever needed.

Love the Excursion, Always wanted a 7.3 Pickup for me)!. Nice trailer also!
