Getting a little boring around here

Which one did you get? Who makes Regency. Do they make their own?

Huntindog is trying to stir the pot! ;lol Ok, I'll bite. Both are great heaters, the BK burns longer at a lower output than the PH but it sounds like the PH puts out better at higher burn rates. Pretty similar to the cat vs non cat debate. I want long 24 hour burns for my situation so the BK was a better fit. If the PH was a true cat stove that could achieve what I want it would be sitting on my hearth right now.

PH vs BK makes me sleepy. Two totally different technologies. A couple more hybrid stoves due. This is the Regency http://www.regency-vision.com/product-f5100.php
Two things have always caught my eye on those specs:
1. 60lbs is 15 lbs less than what is listed for the Defiant, which is a 3.2 cu ft stove, and only 10 lbs more than the Encore which is a 2.3 cu ft stove.
2. Wondering how close it comes to a 24 hour considering it is, presumably, based on a 60 lb load.

The Lopi Cape Cod has the same listed burn time as the Liberty, which is odd. Also it is listed as a higher BTU stove than the Regency, which is annoying. But that is a separate issue.

What the heck, throw the NC30 in the comparison to make it productive. That way you have a jack of all trades, and two specialists.

This thread is about as close as it can get to beating a dead horse

This is sure to generate a bunch of unbiased opinions! ;lol

Two different stoves with different technologies. If the ability to load the stove to the gills and come back 24 hours later is your goal the BKP is the choice,(30-40 hours with a BKK) if you want a great heater that is great looking with a nice fire view and a clean glass that still offers nice/respectable burn times a PH is a good choice.

The BK was my choice since I personally feel it's the most flexible/controllable stove on the market for all weather conditions. I could personally care less about what it looks like, performance was the only thing I considered.

My completely unbiased opinion is that you summed it up about perfectly.

I want a BK that looks like a PH and has the clearances and front load right swinging door of my Republic.

Ain't gonna happen though I'm sure...Heck, aside from it's sister stove (Endeavor) I've yet to see clearances like teh 1750. Unless I missed one somewhere...

just for the record, PH has quite acceptable clearances. Standard rear clearance 6 inches, loading door side 24 inches, front hearth protection standard 12 inches, reduced to 8 inches with addition of lip under window; corner clearances on corner install 12 inches.

Woodstock really improved the clearances for this stove, that was a great move on their part.
