Shoulder season is here to stay for a lot of us.We had a decent snow storm yesterday, of course nothing stayed, and with temps in the 30s and 40s it seems like perfect weather to be out cutting/splitting/stacking to me.

I've got some popular and a small ash that I had cut down for me (it was hanging over my garage...and I know my limits) to buck, split and stack.

So what plans does everyone have for their wood addiction...er collection?

We're getting your snowstorm.....With a hurricane.... Beat that....Sooooo, I'll be moving some yard stuff to the garage.....Oh, gotta go get bread, eggs, milk and snow shovels too....

We need to have available alot of kindling-size pieces of various species for frequent starts from cold. Some of the weekend will be splitting down pine 2 X 4's, hardwood blocks 10% MC and splittable uglies. A decrepit multi-trunk Judas tree may be taken down to rounds then split & stacked also ( 2014-15 wood).

I'm out flying this week. I already visited with Sandy in South Florida. Wet and windy.

Today's trips are philly, chicago, and back to MA. I'm guessing Sandy and I will meet many more times. I'm out flying around till Wed. The boiler room is stocked up. Wife's just got to feed the vigas.

My dad is coming out for the weekend (mom's sisters are all coming down for the weekend). I need to untangle the 50' of poly rope that got caught in my mower's blades while I wasn't paying attention, split some kindling and cut the neighbor's 5 acres.

We'll probably watch football and baseball and drink beer all weekend :).

Lets see.... leaves, mow, start up the snow blower to make sure its running ok, split some wood, bring a couple days worth of wood into the garage, prepare for Frankenstorm and a potential blizzard (WTF) next week. And most importantly, watch the Giants crush the CryGirls!

Yeah.. I fly a private jet.. we go to the smaller airports usually. That cuts down on a lot of the delays.. but with big systems like this, the whole air traffic system grinds to a halt. I see a lot of cookie eating, and coffee drinking in my future.

Seems like we were burning way more 2-3 weeks ago, havent had a fire in over a week. Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 40s doesnt really warrant using up my limited supply of firewood to get the house 3-4 degrees warmer. Almost wish it would get colder.

With that said, Ill be doing leaves, possible more brush/tree clearing in the woods and just annual fall cleanup.

I will be in the woods feeding my antler addiction, Then if I have time in the middle of the day I will be out splitting more rounds I have sitting back there.

Lawn mowing?

I put mine away over a month ago!

I'll be cutting wood provided the weather is decent. Had 40-50 mph winds the weekend before last and last weekend I worked almost 30 hours.

Got a nieghbor around the corner who called, and is dragging out some wood he cut, out of his yard, he said I could have it....even help load. This is the same guy I scrounged wood from about a month ago....cut up some logs, then went back with my blower and rake and cleaned up.....I think that made an impression. After that, storm preperation (clean the gutters...again, and put things away)....make a trip to the bank for ca$h......if we lose power, no ATM's.....it's one year almost to the day of our wicked snowstorm that really hit us hard.

There's a few of those guys around. Got to love em. There's a whole lot of people's nice salaries that guy provides for. Probably a dozen directly... and hundreds when you start counting maintenance, fuelers, caterers, baggage handlers, limo drivers.

I know it's popular to bash "rich" folks.. but there's plenty like me making a good living from them.

Not bashing....just shakin' my head.

plan on processing a few cords of oak this weekend, a fellow wood burner and I are going to take the Wallenstein out to the bush and run through four or five cords

My grass is still plenty long enough for a mowing,... but my priority is getting the genny ready for Sandy's visit. The wind and the cold are slated to meet somewhere in central New England.

Friday Night: ATV ride with the Club.

Saturday: Putter around the house -- including putting in some electrical outlets and lights for the second floor of our garage which we are turning into an indoor cat jungle gym -- plans to include trees attached to the ceiling rafters so they can climb up and a network of boards on top so they can walk around, lounge, etc.

Sunday: More puttering on Fall projects, burning a brush/debris pile and watching football . . . and maybe just for the helluva it I'll start panicking.

I was thinking about putting together a temporary deer blind out of some of my cut but not split firewood. Last year I had some firewood stacked in the shape of a squared "U" and I stood in the middle of it. Deer had no idea I was there and were passing fairly close to me.

Knew you weren't. Just taking a moment to speak my side of the equation. I see people spend 50k on a ride to their southern home.. for the weekend. I shake my head at it too. But on payday... I love em for doing it. I'll fly em across the street if they want. It's what I do.

Don't want to get into the politics.. but I hate it when politicians and news folks bash "the rich" Guys like me make a pretty good living off those folks.

WOW...I need a ride, well anywhere!!

It's 8 k AN HOUR! and you have to buy 25 hours minimum. My standard joke is.... I can't afford to START IT if I was paying the bill. Never mind go anywhere.

And of the 14 types.. mine is close to the "cheap" end. Unreal they money I see spent in a week.
