Split alot of white oak over the last few weeks and decided to give myself a break from it. I spent the weekend on a big maple I bucked up a couple months back. Also on one taken down a couple weeks ago. I had to quarter the maple with my wedge and maul to haul out of the woods to the truck. I'm done for the day. I will keep working on a mix since the oak will take awhile. I have alot of hickory to process before winter is out. First picture are the rounds of maple

Nice stacks TimJ.
If I didn't know any better I'dve thought those were taken up my driveway

Great wood walls and it must be nice to have the land to stack it. How is the hickory to split? I saw a huge mockernut hickory near my work that blew down from Sandy. Think it's worth going after?

Hickory can be a pita to split but well worth the effort in btu's

Jeff, hickory splits easy if it doesn't have many knots. Get alot of knots anf it can give you fits. I would get any hickory wood I could becase it has all the qualities of a top burning wood.
