Feeling the Heat

Finding out that my stove dosent like ( or like way to much) these pellets. Avg heat out put is 200 deg. I have been going threw a bag a day with these pellets. I am glad I am useing them for my shoulder season supply, and saving my green teams and summersets for the really cold stuff. Just some FYI for the others that have the green supreme.

I have been mixing them with Presto's to get some extra heat out of them. I scooped em out when we had a little cold snap and ran just the Presto's for a couple of days. Back to mixing them in the lil warm spell were getting for the next week or so.

Must be something wrong with my stove. Been burning and loving the GS this season. Low ash, low fines, real good heat. Found 2-5-1 settings to be just fine. Will be burning the Turmans when the temp gets real cold but the $100/ton price differential makes me cringe.

Jay, how are you liking the Presto's? Are they a recent production batch, or leftovers?

Latest stuff I can find. They are doing very well. Very close to the liggies of old and I like them so far. Heat is very very nice! A tick ashy, But the beast doesn't mind and will roast you backside with them! Going to get some more to finish the shoulder season. Only thing shoulder about them is the price($209/ton)!

Some are having decent luck with them. I did last spring too, Thats why I grabs some when TSC didn't have MWP. But this batch just isn't tickling it for me.

Boy, I wish I could say that - never burned a bag of NEWPs that was any good at all... :(

I have to agree,... With the GS I just bump the trim settings up to 3-2-1 and get comparable results as Somersets set at 2-1-1. So maybe consuming a slight bit more pellets to produce the same heat, but not enough to complain about,... at 209 I like GS's..

I have GS in right now since we are in for a mild weekend. What i did was run over a few bags with my backhoe/tractor to break the pellets smaller and believe it or not the heat output improved and the auger isnt making that snapping noise from breaking the pellets

I have found so far this year the pellets to be much shorter than years past. I have gone thru 15 bags so far, marked 2/8/2012 and have not seen one pellet over 1" in length. Anyone else seeing this at all? All I know is that my auger has been quiet so far this year, and I like it.

I have burned a some turmans, green teams and stove chow and they were all short. I just sifted 7 bags of cheat rivers and there were some 2 inchers in there. I got them for a buck a bag so im not complaining.

I recently picked up a few bags of Green Supremes at my local Home Depot just to try out.For me personally, They just don't cut it for me. I had to raise my heat setting from 2 to 4 and they still were'nt putting out the same heat as the Stove Chows I was currently burning. I would have to pass on this pellet. even for $209 a ton.

I have CleanFires, which are the same pellet....bought them a few years ago, and wish I hadn't. But, been slowly using them up during shoulder season. But I have the same issue....have to raise fuel feed to make them useable.

I have to raise my LFF from 2 to 5, and LBA from 4 to 6 to get any decent heat out of them. Just as confirmation that it's the pellets and not a stove issue, I let the hopper empty and then dumped a bag of Chow in. Granted, the Chow are not the hottest pellet going, but after about 45 minutes I realized the room was sweltering......had to take those settings back to where I had them originally, PLUS had to lower the regular heat setting 2 notches.

GS, or CleanFire, or NEWP....whatever you want to call them, are poor in my book.
