One of my buddies called me up on Friday last week and asked if I wanted some free wood and of course I was like "heck yeah" So I get over there and its oak that Consumers Energy had cut down to keep it away from the power lines. I had to cut some to size with the chain saw and split it , my friend had his son load it up into his truck and they brought it to my house and he made his son do most of the stacking. This friend will have a case of beer waiting for him when he gets back from up north deer hunting. I still have a little pile to get through this weekend.

Your dad sounds like my dad. Had to look at your location to make sure you weren't possibly one of my brothers. Dad had a home remodeling business and 3 sons as labor. On the job we got a sandwich, soda, and snickers bar for the brutal jobs. If we were really good, we got treated to 7-11 hot dogs. Just thinking about it brings back great memories. Cutting bricks for a patio with a wet saw when it was 40 degrees outside. Doing roofs in 100 degree or 30 degree weather. Cuting trees in 100 degree heat. With the trees, the homeowner felt so bad that she continually left pitchers of lemonade and snacks out for us. Even though we grumble about it and joke our dad about it, me and my brothers are much better off from all that we learned while "helping" him.

Of course, you talk to my dad and he will tell you that we were more trouble than we were worth with all our arguing amongst one another.
