Feeling the Heat

Haven't posted in awhile, thought I would share my latest firewood trips! Got two great loads, one full of oak and one full of cherry. Still cutting from a farm that was logged and the tops were left. This is going to be some super easy splitting when the time comes!

I am just replacing wood that was used this year so far, wanted to keep it off the ground till I split it so I just stacked in on the racks (and a little overflow pile).

This wood will be used for 2014-15, I have 4-5 cords ready to go for next winter already (you can just see the stack in the backyard in the corner of the first picture). I probably have a total of around 8-9 cords at the moment.

Feels good to stay ahead!

I was wondering where the hell you've been.....I see you've been busy, and you've provided evidence in the pics......

We'll let it slide this time......>>

Sorry Scotty, I did feel a little guilty being gone so long, mostly been lurking here and there the last couple months, preoccupied with other things. But now I am back in firewood mode! :)

Long time no post... ;)

Glad to see your still at! Those rounds look awesome. Most dont even look like they need split.

Just let season and burn.

Primo wood there.
When is "splitting time" & I assume "Miller time" (Stoney's or Iron city) is minutes afterwards.

Yep, being & staying ahead nothing but good! ;)

son, that makes you a cord hoarder...on the Firewood Hoarders Club Ltd. scale...

Nice work jwoair23! That is a great feeling. What do you use to split your wood up?

I want to get a Fiskars X27, but until then, this is what I am using, an 8 lb maul:

Yup. I have an x27 on the Christmas list. I currently have a Collins 2-1/2 axe and maul. The X27 should fit well for work between the two.
