Got this low end rotary mower in June 2011. There are no drain plugs to remove old oil. The B & S motor shown has the space-age looking cowl removed. I tried a suction type pump, got about 75% out, then tipped the whole thing and got another few ounces. What were they thinking? Anyone have ideas how to remove all the old oil? IMAG0011-1.jpg

Take the spark plug out, take your gas cap off, put some cellophane wrap over top then down over the threads, put you gas cap back on tight, unscrew your oil cap then dump out in a oil pan.

First start it up an let it run a couple of minutes then do the above, worked for me.

Yeah, gotta tip it. The older units used to say "Easy fill and drain" on the filler cap. Sure, fill and drain through the same opening.
Are you sure there is no drain plug on the bottom of the engine, below the deck?

Really, the mower will be junk before the effects of never changing the oil cause damage. More importantly though is that the warranty will have expired.

You do realize that most people never change oil in lawn mowers, right? My small engines run fresh mobile 1 synthetic but I'm a dork.

Heheh. Disposable lawn mowers, huh? Well, I'm still gonna replace motor oil every season, even if it's only 75% of it.... Thanks for the replies. Maybe next drain/fill it will get corn oil so it smells like a popcorn machine while cutting. LOL.

Just don't use coconut oil - it's fattening!

You are so right on this. My mower is going on 13 years of use with the same quart of Mobile 1 that put in it the day I put it into service.

I'm worse than you Highbeam. My disorder is even more expensive. Amsoil 10W30 Small-Engine Synthetic (yup, they make a SE specific oil....) in almost everything. Yeah, Amsoil Ea filters where appropriate as well. Tractor has a K & N air filter. ;)

I don't miss drain plugs. I vacuum evacuate everything I can these days. Saves time, is cleaner too.

Did you look under the deck?
looks like the 3.5ish briggs. They usually have a square plug, a 3/8" socket extension will remove it.

What he said. Same as my splitter.

No drain plug on it anywhere. I will sure look at a liquivac because there's a TSC not far away. The vacuum gadget I have now is messy and leaky. Good idea, thanks.
