Hi Folks

Just wanted to say, that using cement on a stove adapter does not make it easier for pulling out a pellet stove for servicing!

To remove this tove adapter was 6 vent busting steps!

1. Cut the pipe from the venting using a reciprocating saw.
2. Cut the pipe again closer to the stove flange with a hacksaw and jig saw without cutting into the stove flange!
3. Using a hammer, drive a screwdriver between the stove flange and the stove adapter.
4. Twist the screw driver to break the stove flange and start peeling it up.
5. Continue peeling it up using vise grips to completely remove the rest of the stove adapter!
6. Use wire wheel on drill to remove cement on stove flange!

So what should you attach a stove adapter to a pellet stove for easy servicing?
Many people use nothing! Great for servicing! Some put hi temp foil around it if smoke does escape! What else can be used for EASY servicing?

High temp silicone. I was able to twist it off of my old stove.

The next vent piece. . . . . .

The adapter should ALWAYS be sealed with High temp Silicone/RTV. Never foil tape and NOTHING should not be an answer. Because NOTHING is unacceptable.

But disconnecting the next vent piece is pretty easy. The less you mess with the adapter, the less chance for leaks

Because it works very very well. It also forms a mechanical joint as well as a gas tight one if they used my good friend furnace/retort cement.
