I need to replace snap disk 1. Is this disk the one when I open the left side panel where the purple wires are connected. It sure looks like it but according to the online manual it's located on the right side above the blower. It's an insert I'd it makes a difference. Any help appreciated

There is a picture on here of a quad insert modified for having a high convection fan speed all of the time instead of varying with the feed setting that was on the left hand side if you were facing the insert door, right hand side if you were in back of the stove.

Well that didn't solve my problem then. Blower turns on and off at least 5 times when stove is shutting down and two to three times when it's starting. I'm at a loss

remember snap disks are ALMOST bullet proof. i would describe your issue and see where we can go from there. I can sell you a snap disk but unless it is in pieces I bet it is not the disk.

If you are talking about your convection blower, it can do that.

Eric

The blower can remove enough heat for the switch to shut it off before all of the burning is done resulting in the switch closing again. It really isn't a problem, if you want a more consistent blower you can get an adjustable one or a lower turn on temperature one. Just don't go lower than 110::F as that would place the shut off at 90::For even lower and you might have the blower running when you don't want it too.

I can also be that the area behind the switch is dirty or the switch isn't firmly attached so the temperature sensor button isn't against the manifold, quad has actually moved that switch.

We've used the stove all last year and it never did this. Thus my concern. The fire goes out,the stove begins to cool and then the blower shuts off but exhaust stays on. A minute later blower comes back on and then shuts off along with the exhaust. Then the blower will cycle on and off at least five times until it shuts off permanently. Sometimes it only goes on for a second before shutting off

Yes it can do this. Check the leads on the disk.

Eric

Ok. Here is what I did so far. In another thread I was advised to change snap disk 1. Facing the stove I opened the left side panel and saw the disk on the side with the purple wires that were decsribed to me. Fired up stove and still doing the same things I described.

I will check the leads when I get out of work tonight

I've never had that happen on either of my stoves! Not even once. It could be as Eric said that the leads are not fitting tightly on the disk. I wonder if the fan motor is internally tripping on over temperature.
Maybe you have a bad connection in the connector going to the motor. Pull it apart and put it back together a few times. There's not a heck of a lot in that circuit. A snap disk, a molex connector and the motor.. Trace the wires back to the control box and make sure they aren't chaffed anywhere and shorting out.

Oh, and it is the one with the purple wires. There should be another snap disk right above it according to the manual I have, but, like Eric said, Quad moves them around. Even I have moved mine. :p

Update

Snap disk 1 changed

Stove turns on and seems to be running fine until shutdown. After fire goes out and stove cools, blower goes off but exhaust fan still runs for 1-2 minutes and then the blower comes back on and runs for 1-2 minutes then stove shuts off completely.

All connections look good and wires look good as well. This never happened last heating season.

I had some strange operational issues last year that turned out to be the spade connections at snap disk #2. I just spent a few minutes with some needle-nose pliers and all was well. Could it possibly be an inconsistent physical connection from the snap disk to the stove body? It is my understanding that the rear part of any disk needs to be in full contact with the stove metal. One of mine had something between the disk and the metal that was pretty hard and was preventing full contact.
Just a thought.

Sounds like you aren't getting as much airflow as last year to carry the heat away from the stove and the heat heats the snap disk back up. Are the blades on your convection fan clean? This is what smokey said earlier. I put an adjustable snap disk in place of the original so it cools down more before it shuts off so more heat is extracted BUT I never had the fan come back on before the change. Something is interfering with your airflow. Mouse nest? Major fur balls?
