That stuff is good Mary. We put lots of it in this old crate. Works like a charm. Pallet Pete was going to do some so we sent the crew over that did ours and it saved him a few thousand dollars! Now his house is warm.

LOL, PapaDave, I specify 201 on my Fireview because my controls are different. I believe mine is the first cat FV model. The cat is in a different location, and I have just a slider on the loading door to adjust the air. Then there's a knob on a stick to engage the cat. Super simple design, but it works well. I just get confused when people talk about "dialing in their Fireview at 1.25" and such, because I just eyeball the slider for 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 approximations.

Here are a few more pics. My fire tonight is sub par (boo) as I tossed on a couple of splits that I thought might be oak but wasn't sure - and sure enough, they are, year old oak. LOL. So I've got a 450 stovetop, no great shakes. However, the room with the pellet stove is warming up far more than I recall it doing in the past. I am hopeful. And I'm having a guy come Saturday to talk about possibly insulating the walls...

Joists and ducts

Joists (this is in the newer part of the house, obviously...the older part has whole logs for joists....

CT Guy, I'd recommend these guys (Beacon Spray Foam, info on truck) - they were very neat and clean, efficient, polite, left no mess. They even moved some stuff out of the crawl and put it back in (forgot we had a few boxes stored down there...)

We can't get it in the walls but could around rim joists and will add to attic when we replace the roof. I've been told for walls we have to do fiberglass or cellulose.

When doing walls, they make your siding look like giant woodpeckers have been at work. Then they just start filling each hole. After they are filled they plug the holes with styrofoam plugs.

man o man am i getting jealous of you guys super insulating your houses lol! my house was built in 1970 in the mtns of n. vermont the attic has some kind of foam boards between the joists about 1 inch thick the walls are fiberglass but the sheathing on the outside is 1x10 planks with about a half inch air space between them from drying out. so needless to say house is kind of drafty. i want to look in to getting the foam or cellulose done but scared on price but i know it pays back big time. also house is gambrel built almost like an a frame so dont have but 1 window on sides of house. but morning and afternoon sun poke threw really nice on the other walls of glass. im going to look into the insulation next year when we vynal side the place maybe well use that 3/4 foam on the outside then siding has anyone had any luck with that stuff??? ne ways glad to see your getting the place tightend up youll be super warm this winter
