Infernos @ Ace hardware for 229.00?? Any good?

Burning La Crete right now and they are very good. Looking for cheaper "shoulder season" pellet.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy a lot of them...at least not without trying them first.

Some have said they had good luck, But many don't walk, They run away from them. These are said to be made of construction waste. Picture were posted of pellets having multi colors(could be from paint?).

Looking for cheaper "shoulder season" pellet.

Why would you want to run inferior pellets through your stove? The cost per BTU usually isn't any lower, and the ash and gunk they leave behind hurts stove performance. If they don't yield as much heat per pound, you will be carrying more pounds of pellets to your stove. I don't understand, what is the advantage?

I guess it all depends on just how much one pellet outperforms the other. If there is just a little more ash and a little less heat but a 30% price difference......personally I'd go with the cheaper one.

I'm with Harvey on this one. I haven't seen the point of running a cheaper pellet. The heat gains, and stove maintenance gains, are well worth burning good pellets all of the time.

There are other pellets out there better than Infernos for the same or less money. I'd buy them and mix before I'd buy Infernos.

i bought 2 bags two years ago. One is still in the basement. It will not go into my stove. waiting for a rainy icy storm to use it for traction in the driveway.

I burned 12 bags of Infernos earlier this month. What garbage. The burn pot was completely clogged up after about 8-10 hours of burning. Also, I had to turn the stove up an additional setting to even get remotely close to the same heat output as other brands.

I did notice that they feed A LOT slower. The pellets were very long (longer than any of the other 7 brands I have this year). Even so, when I turned my stove from 2 (what I normally leave it on) to 3 (what I would put it on if I want the house to "warm up") the feed rate was about what a normal pellet would feed on 2 (1 bag/12 hours) yet the heat didn't match up.

I'd leave them at the store.
