I am a new pellet stove owner, I have also been lurking around hear trying to learn as much as I can. Anyhow I bought a house that came with this StCroix Prescott (9-94 build date)to heat the garage. The stove was sitting in the corner not hooked up. This fall I installed the stove and soon found the auger feed not working properly. I had determined the auger motor to be the cause.... Installed the new motor and same symptoms as before. I have been going through the owners manual trouble shooting guide, and everything seems to check out mechanically. I tested both auger motors in a test cord as sudjested on this forum. Both motors turned at the advertised 2rpm. My final conclusion is the control box must be faulty? If anyone has any input or others ideas what could be causing my issues it would be greatly appreciated. I might add that the stove burns great, it just won't feed pellets to keep the fire going. Thanks in advance! -Curtis

Welcome to the forum Curtis.

Or your vacuum switch isn't closed for enough of the control boards auger on time.

Have you figured out that a used stove is generally an ash plugged toss aside yet?

Normally they sit in a garage or basement and after the owner trips over them enough they go on Craigslist to be sold.

This is great for us as normally, besides a bit of cosmetics, the only thing usually wrong with them is the prior owner never knew how to clean them.

Thanks for the quick responce! And yes this thing has been a major pita up until this point. I forgot to mention I have totally disasembled the stove and thoroughly cleaned it out as per recomendations from this site. I also forgot to mention that the auger motor is only seeing 22-23 volts when the auger cycles on. Im pretty sure it should be seeing 120 volts. The motor also see's about 1 volt even when the feed is cycled off. I havent had any luck getting ahold of St Croix to see if they have a tech I could talk to about these symptoms. If anyone else has something to add I'm all ears. Tthanks -Curtis

As Smokey said maybe poor Vac switch, try and jumper around before the next big leap- the Board. good luck

Just my 2 cents worth.... I would check all the wire connections and clean them. I thought I had a problem with my Lancaster but turned out to be dirty connections. I took them all off, one at a time and sprayed some de-oxit on each side of the connectors and everything was back to normal. Also could it also be a dirty hopper lid safety switch?

No luck with jumpering the vacuum switch. I will be calling to order a new cb board. Hopefully it isnt obsolete like some of the components...

I have cleaned all electrical connections. This thing is 18 years old lol It doesnt have a hopper lid switch

I did a conversion on an analog board Peppin I had.....first line of the directions was "Remove old control board and all wiring"...!!

It really wasn't bad....everything is color coded and pretty straight forward.

The cost for that digital board conversion about a year ago was $205..... if I'm not mistaken most St. Croix stoves use the same board.

good luck
