im looking at this blaze king stove to upgrade my 18-tr im sick of waking up at 5 to re light stove since it wont stay going id like the extra hour of sleep lol this is the stoveim just wondering a few things first is it a good deal? second can i reduse it to a 6" fflu and last will this stove out preform mine

For two hundred I would be all over that. Gotta burn longer than the TR. And would look great with a non-combustible Lava Lamp sitting on top of it and some Jimi Hendrix playing.

What is your chimney setup? If it is tall enough it should work OK. Talking twenty foot range here.

I also think that for $200, it might be worth a try. Would be good if you could find an installation/owner's manual for it...but not something to go searching for to the ends of the earth. As BB said, reducing the flue size from 8" to 6" is not ideal, but many have satisfactory performance so long as they have sufficient height.

BTU rating is useless. Focuse on firebox size. How big is that stove.

Length of wood isn't the key indicator, the amount of wood is.

Where are you finding all of these funky looking stoves? They are amazing. No idea if they are capable heaters, though.

What is your budget for a new stove (other than low cost). What is your "can't go above this amount" limit? And how big of a stove do you need? I'm pretty good at finding used stoves.

250 max right now. and i gotta heat my 996 square foot house but its in the basement and thats 996 square ft too so like 2000 square feet to heat. lady that has the blaze king claims it heats her 2200 square ft house and the danish one is in a 2500 square foot house. im waiting to see a pic of the burn box on the danish stove my main thing is it will heat my house and burn all night only gotta get a year outa the stove

Stick with that Blaze King. Break one of those curved pieces of glass in that Porta-Potty and you are out of business.

The Blaze King is like any other stove. When it is down to coals, push them out of the way and scoop out the ashes. Pull the coals forward, reload and bring it up to temp and engage the cat and rock and roll. Look at the manual I linked too last night.

Assuming she isn't in the ALB zone I'd go for the deal with the 1.5 cord of wood (does she really know what a cord of wood is though?). $50/cord is a good deal in my book.

+1. . .then put on Dark Side of the Moon, the BK theme album.

. . .and the several ft. of 8" vertical pipe apparently included in the sale should help. You might want to change that 90° to a 45° though. A lot of BK guys have reworked their chimney with 45's to maximize draft, which seems to be key to optimizing performance from BK's.

Even if this BK was made before they got their hands on the Alien Technology® that lets their stoves burn for days on end, 80Ibs of oak(capacity according to the manual) will give you a long burn in any catalytic stove. Just having the manual available for a 25-year-old stove puts you ahead of the game, and BK is one of the user-friendly manufacturers whom you can contact directly for additional support. I would snap this up quickly. Even if it doesn't work well with your flue, you should be able to resell it and get your $ back out of it.
