Man, I'm getting really good heat out of these but holy cow a LOT of ash too....at least volume wise....got these about a month and a half ago at the Cozy Barn...Actually paid more for these than the Somersets I've been buying.

I'm still sitting on about 1/2 ton I got from the Cozy Barn back in the spring @ $4.00 a bag what are they going for now?

$4.50......$225 a ton.....I like supporting local companies but the Somersets at Lowes are $4.18 a bag or $199 ton contractor and have awesome heat and very little ash.....

I am burning Powerhouse, yea they are a nice pellet, but I am getting pretty much ash in the pan too. Not a big deal just empty more often. I will buy them again. I got them in April for $180.00

That was a good deal at $180.......where did you get those? Cozy Barn was at around $195 when I got them last year...they were a bit ashy last year but this batch is REALLY ashy.......

I bought them at a place Near Hamburg called Mt. View Supply. I am not sure if they still carry them as they told me they were trying them to see what people thought of them.

I tried a few bags of the Powerhouse around a month ago & thought they produced way too much ash.

I just cleaned my Accentra after a month of burning the Powerhouse and I too had a lot of ash, the pan was almost full. The whole inside of the stove was full of ash. After the cleaning, I put in Turmans, I wanna see how much ash I get from them after 1 month. Does anybody have any info on O'Malley's as far as ash content and heat?

I'd be interested myself about the O'Malley's....place down in Quakertown carries them. Might be half decent, they use their own fiber.

Did a search here on O'Malley's don't think they are anything special . If the GAP'S are pumping out the heat with a little more ash I'd roll with them and if you have an issue with GAP'S Jeff Nichoals [sorry if I spelled your name wrong] is a stand up guy and will make right by you.

Well like I said...they do pump out good heat but the ash is crazy. I might drop them an email just to let them know what I think but other than "visual" facts, I don't have any "scientific" data for them. I just super cleaned my stove/vent today. I might throw a bag in and collect all the ash just to see where it really is at. I think it might be "is what it is" with these.....although they definitely were less ashy last year. Thank god for the 'Sets and Turman!

I hear you , haven't burned this years batch so can't comment on amount of ash interested to hear if Jeff gets back to you .

I'm burning GAP's and they put out some good heat and so far pretty low ash content and zero clinkers. One bag did have a high fiber content though, LOL !!!

slvrblkk- You just nailed it! The term "a lot of ash" is extremely subjective. A lot compared to what?....I sell Great American and/or PowerHouse pellets. And I have sold over 800 tons of them since the spring. Like any brand of pellets I sell, some people like them and other people will not. What one person considers a lot of ash may not appear to be excessive to another. PowerHouse and GAP are great options this year for customers looking for a decent pellet that is cheap. For them, this is a great option. But these may not be the best option for customers who typically burn the high end pellets (legitimate super premiums such as Okanagan, Barefoot, Turman or Hamer) even though the price may seem attrsactive. But it is all perspective, and everyone's situation is different- so there is no right or wrong answer.
Furthermore, I see that you are off to burning some Turman for the next month or so. Please be prepared to be dis-satisfied with anything else that you try once you have been burning those Turmans for a bit :) You will officially be a "spoiled pellet burner";)

Well put and thanks for joining the forum nice to get a different view. I've been a advocate of GAP'S since they 1st came out probably biased as they are made in my neck of the woods. Not that I don't try other brands because I do , I think they make a quality pellet at a fair price.

i get powerhouse at smalles agway 4.75 a bag and a boatload of ash go over to effort argots has
lignetics 5.00 each 249.50 a ton big difference almost no as with those

Thankfully they put out good heat but I probably won't buy more unless I get them CHEAP!
I have the same stove as you (insert version). I have been using the LaCrete's and they are very good @ 283.00 per ton. They come from the same forrest as Okanagens without the fines issues. very hot and clean!

I burned two bags of "Quality One" pellets which I believe were softwoods that I happened to find at HD last year...burned terrible....those were the only softies I think I've ever seen down here.
