Anyone notice that DryCreek has a super premium this season? I always like their premium pellets and am looking forward to trying these!

I'm on a mission to find some if anyone in the NW CT area has seen em. Please share who's got them.

Jay, according to the "dealer finder" on their website, Iffland Lumber in Torrington and Millerton Agway have them.

Dry Creek Supers are made using only one specific sawdust vendor of theirs that has nice clean kiln dried sawdust. The sawdust availability for the supers is scarce but when they do make them, they are some of the cleanest pellets going. If the sawdust loads show up at the mill and the initial ash tests fail the super premium standards, it gets pumped into a silo and used to make the premiums. You're in for a treat when you get them!

My luck they aren't selling by the bag. But I'll take a swing by sometime soon.

I'm guessing that since it's a new product, they have an open pallet and would sell individual bags.

Last year I remember being frustrated that BT wasn't willing to sell bags of brands I wanted to try. I think I even posted something about it. I've done business with them this year and can't say enough good things about them, really good people and a great variety of pellets. I have also had no problems buying just a few bags to try... I'm not sure if they changed their policy, or I was just lucky that the brands I wanted were available by the bag?

Think they are on par with Turmans ?

BT is more open to give 'sample sizes' at the beginning of the season i think. Towards the end, they won't break up full pallets other than in half tons, which also go to the $6/bag price.

J, i'd be willing to split a ton with you if you're interested. I was actually checking these out the other day on their website.

Im also interested. If J doesnt want a half ton, Ill do the other half, Save a few bags for J.......

Now that's a loaded question. I am willing to stipulate that there are many great pellets out there, but there is only one "Best". I have never tried the DC Supers with the exception of 2 bags that an eager sales rep wanted me to try, but I have 3 truckloads on their way, and I am eager to give them another shot. In my opinion, nothing burns as cleanly or as hot as Barefoot and Turman. But.....That's my opinion. Not all people will agree with me, although I have spread sheets and sales reports that clearly show that most of my customers do, as they tend to gravitate towards those two brands year after year. But, I also have a small handfull of customers who do not care for Barefoot or Turman. So, who's right?

Good answer. Sounds like the quality control is similar, with a pre test, and using single vendor for the best sawdust.

Thanks

That's a tough one. Turman's are so darn consistent. The standard Dry Creeks are no match for Turmans and With oak being the hottest hardwood fiber I have seen. I'd say the SP Creeks may be as clean, As for the heat? I just don't know, But my money would be on the Turmans.

I talked to Scott at CTpellet. He'll have some Dry Creek SP in around the 15th. Will do a sample for the group so we can see. My neighbor has some Turmans(burns em every year and swears by them) I'll see if I can trade something for a couple a bags. Might be a tough sell, He doesn't like to share em and doesn't like many other brands!

I think there are many that would agree. I'm all in on Turmans being the most consistent pellet. There no guessing with them.

I got a ton at the begining of the season. To me, they are very dirty, they are super long ( compared to barefoot) I believe I just dumped my last bag in the stove last night and didn't take any pictures.

I picked up ton of the chioce pellets early in the season at millerton agway. Maybe they are stocking the super premiums now? may want to call and be sure of what dry creek pellets they have. For whaat its worth I think the dry creeks have been a good pellet so far, I compare em to barefoots.
