If $$ is no object he needs to find out which is the best dealer who he feels comfortable with. Does the dealer have a full supply of parts ? are his techs fully trained? Go to the show room watch the stoves burn listen how loud or quiet does it run , how easy is it to maintain. For me the dealer is the key who's going to be there after the sale and fix your stove in Jan. in a prompt manner when it's -15::F Just my 2 cents.

and why ? He wants the best $$ no object

Hard to beat a Harman, if $$$ no object. Burn almost anything. Maintenance is minimal compared to others.
Made in Pa. Parts readily available. Tech support is not good from the company, but your friend will have Hearth.com! P68 isn't pretty, but it's a kick-a$$ heater & has a big hopper, with a hopper extension available.
XXV is a really pretty stove & because of the heavy cast iron body, it's probably the most quite pellet burner on the market. Haven't done a lot with the Quad products, so another pellet pig will hafta chime in ...here...

Well, I have both Quad and Harman and I like the harman better, for what that is worth. They are both good stoves, but I have had more issues with the Quad, then again I have that 4 years and this is the first with my Accentra.

I sit here reading posts about setting the draft, trim, hi/lo, sunflower settings, and on and on and scratch my head and wonder why would anyone want to go through all that. With a Harman, turn it on, fondle the pellets, open a beer, and relax.

I second that. Things go wrong at some point with most stoves. If the dealer is someone who does not respond, or doesn't know what he's doing, could make for a very frustrating experience. I love my P68, but since I've never owned any other stove, hard for me to say it's better than another brand.

I got a 2012 Mt Vernon. Very nice looking stove, cranks heat, and I am happy with my purchase. I cant say I have heard anything negative at all about the p-68s. If you are looking at the cast type stoves, both the Mt Vernon and XXV's have had their bugs but I believe most are worked out. I have had no issues with mine - just burned through first ton. Go look at both and then make the decision.

Wait, what? The XXV is the quietest stove on the market? Really?!?! Have you checked out a Mt Vernon or an M55? The Harman is MUCH louder than either of these. I looked at one but found the fan noise way too much. The P68 is a beast and will put out incredible heat. My sister has one and she loves it. My Mt Vernon appears to be more efficient in heating my house. We are burning the same pellets and our houses are within 50 square feet of one another. I'm using less pellets. Something else to consider IMO.

It's not possible to compare 2 houses based on square footage alone. Too many other factors come into play.

This is like.. money is no object I want a car/ truck what is the best? Wow. I have a quad and it would not be my first choice because I like to tinker and would rather set the stove to run on whatever pellets I buy rather than buy the pellets that my stove likes (which is not hard). Englander has a new stove that is styled very contemporary or modern I might say and I think it will be just as awesome as their other products. Englander does not have 'dealer' support but has the best customer support from the factory so this means you have to work on them yourself usually. Enviro, Quadrafire, harman, or the like would be great stoves.

It depends on what you want and are capable of doing yourself. What suits one person, another might very well despise.

If money is no object I would highly consider a pellet furnace or boiler.

Dealer road trips will probably be most helpful at this stage in the game. Every dealer will have the 'best' pellet stove for your application though so keep that in mind and make 'your' decision.

XXV and Mt Vernon are very pretty and run like a ***** ape. All depends what he wants to do with them. Comparing them side by side other than looks is stupid.

He needs to heat about 2000 square feet

Your friend needs to get on this site and do some searching on the stoves he wants. Kinda like me sending someone to buy a car for me.

Eric

A pellet furnace is not always the way to go. I can buy three free standers for the cost of a professional installed Harman PF100. He might not have duct work so that leave that out. The friend needs to do the research.

Eric

If money is no object, ducting is free :)

Honestly, i'm not a beer guy at all... or anything for that matter. i hardly ever drink any more.

"I don't always drink, but when i do it's not Busch"
