Burning Hunk

After letting a buddy of mine borrow my truck I asked my wife if I could use her truck to go up to my wood lot and cut for the day. She agreed on one condition "no way will you abuse my truck hauling wood in the back". Figuring I was just cutting I agreed. A few minutes out of my driveway I come across a road crew trimming trees. Beech, Maple, Elm, some Oak...it's like a buffet!!!

Being a good citizen I stop and help those fellas clean up their mess on the side of the road. On the 4th trip home I pull in just as my wife does after Xmas shopping with a girlfriend. Here's what her truck looked like

As soon as she got out of her girlfriends car I knew I was up the creek. I was tired after moving all that wood and all I could mumble was " it's a disease, I can't help it. Go on Hearth.com and read about it....I am not the only one" Oh well so now I am in the doghouse. But here was today's haul :)

I feel your pain, the F150 I have in my sig is my fiancee's daily driver (though I pay the bill :) ). So I always try and take care to keep it clean and in good shape, lest I get in trouble also!

Tell her it's like going shopping & you go by a shoe store that has all your favorite shoes in your size & they are free now
No matter what, you just can't pass it up LOL :)

Good score
Get her a gift certificate to a shoe store, may help ;) LOL

Definitely give her a good treat. Probably most of us on hearth.com can easily understand the predicament you had and you did the right thing except that you should have stopped sooner and washed the truck before bringing it home.

Wow, those stack look very high. Over 6ft? Fespo

When completed (like the ones in background) those stacks are around 7-9 feet high. The wood posts in the adjoining fence are about 5 feet high. I can get away with big stacks because I season the wood 3 years, or more.

You're amongst friends here, and there's always the Firewood Hoarder's Club, Ltd support hotline...
1-800-Got-Wood ;) Nice score BTW!

FYI, tried the 1800 number..... Yea, not so much a number for someone with the kind of wood we're talking about.... Hahahah a!!!

Anyway, she'll only be mad a few days. No worse than when I did four loads of dirty, wet oak in the entire back of my wife's Expedition.. Ouch.

Now that's funny! Somebody better tell Scotty.
It's probably that company with the darn commercial for th ED pill that says "if you have an -------- that lasts more than 4 hours seek immediate medical attention". Ummmmm, ok with me if you want to call it "medical" attention :)

I have vast experience handling women, just wash the truck up nice and take her out to dinner, everything will be just fine............................................

Of course, I've got a few ex-wives too............................................

You're not alone. My wife is in love with EVERY tree on our 70 acres. I had my uncle the forrester mark quite a bit for cutting. I had him mark AWAY from the driveway so you have to go into the woods to see all the orange dots for what will be cut.

Fight the fight you can win. Avoid the ones you can't.

All else fails.. vacuum the house and buy her some flowers.

Heres my answer to the problem......... She got Promoted to Fire Goddis! ;) (and I took a demotion)

Nice haul SD ! My wife gave up on the truck after we got married she said I know I am gonna lose ;lol. I said it was meant to work not look pretty and proceeded to beat the snot out of the truck. The truck is 15 years old and looks like it has had a good hard life too now. One of the small battles in life that I won ;lol.

My wife's got a Dodge hemi with 20" chrome wheels and is purdy blue. I promised her I would wash it this weekend when it warms up a bit. She's OK with it all, I always get some kind of grief around this time of year when she wants the wood season to end and Xmas honey do list to begin....I might need to postpone my wood lot work until next spring....
