I swear (and this was about 15 years ago) our friend got his pellets in these round 30 gallon cardboard drums and the pellets were round. possibly made of recycled paper?

I really can't remember for sure and our friend doesn't have many brain cells left, he forgot they even had a pellet stove once.

Does anyone know?

Yeah....Um....Your frien's probably a nice guy. I have nothing bad to say about him. I do however, as a matter of practicality, question the veracity and accuracy of his recollection. I don't think that wood pellets (or any pellets) were ever round, and by round I mean spherical.
P.S. Tell him that Scott from Ghana says "Hi!" This ought to be good!

I have a few brain cells left and I remember them as white round things.

maybe albino rabbits?

No way man I got a half ton of tetrahedron pellets left in the basement. 22,900 btu melted a hole in the hopper of my stove man.

The square ones cost more but burn hotter.

been done before... :)

Yep! Actually when dry they burn pretty good. Stove lights em fine. No stink or smell at all. I burned em straight too no mixing with pellets. Only problem is I only have 1 bunny and he can't poop the whole winters supply. My wife also wants it for the garden and compost bin(so I lost!).

Because they eat lots of grass(alfalfa hey) the poop has lots of silica in the ash. Do not try this in a pellet stove.

I would think they would burn like S#IT!!!
