Enviro M55 shut down

Here is another problem with the M55. While adjusting the damper I had the pressure down to .18 on the guage and then the damn thing shut down. After it cooled down I found a flashing #3 which is the exhaust sensor open. I checked the fuses...not blown. Has anyone had this issue and if so what's the fix?
 
It thinks the stove is not up to temperature (has no fire in it) because the exhaust sensor is no longer closed or the wiring has an issue and the controller can't "see" the sensor. So it enters shut down mode.

ETA: That can also be the result of the high limit tripping as the stove will no longer feed pellets.

That stove has a auger cover plate that is adjustable it needs to be closed a bit if this is what is causing it.
 
Smokey I figured it was the high limit switch but it wasn't. Now when I tried to restart the stove the exhaust fan and pump come on but the auger isn't feeding. It was only burning on 5 for about 1 1/2 hours and I finally had it set at .17 when it shut down. I guess I'll be calling the dealer again tomorrow. Thankfully it's still under warranty because it's been one issue after another with this thing :confused:
 
Yep. It's weird because when I start it back up the exhaust fan starts and then the convection fan comes on momentarily. It sounds like the pump starts but that's where it stops. And when I shut it off the exhaust fan keeps running and I have to turn off the power at the power strip to get it to shut down. :oops:
 
Todd sorry you having issues the M55 has actually been a good unit. The air draft if its an insert with a liner, Enviro suggests a setting of about 1/2 inch of the lever exposed out of the hole. Depending on the pellets you are burning too, air shutters can be more sensitive. With good pellets, 1/2 to 3/4 inch out is a good setting. For free standing stoves, I can't remember if damper setting arm or a handle. For Flashing 3 that is proof of fire. It usually means the exh path temperature has cooled down and POF sw opens, and shuts down stove. Couple of things to check before replacing. Remove it and see if buildup on the switch especially dark nastry coating, creosote. If so, prob pellets are running cool. If switch is clean or lightly coated, it could be a switch, espec if it happens on low heat settings. If happens on high heat settings, and switch is dirty, then pellet quality is questioned. The convex blower on higher heat levels stripping too much heat off heat exchanger and cooling down exhaust path, I know its a weird thing, but we've seen that problem with pellets here in CT (last year was moreso than this year so far). Good luck, stay with it, you made a good choice.

If you get a chance with the stove off and unplugged take a look at the ribbon cable between the main board and the daughter board, see if it is against anything that would get hot?
 
Quite possibly- checking the ribbon connection from the daughter to main MB is a good thought it makes the M55 do weird things, mostly overfeed pellets I've seen, I'm guessing todd was running stove on 5 to try and set the air control (seen in earlier thread)??
If resetting the MB hasn't been done, let it sit for at least 5 mins unplugged, that might straighten it out too. FYI think if overtemp trips on M55 number 4 light flashes if memory serves. People have had issues with the hopper switches too, we've bypassed a bunch (after Enviro advise us to). Good luck

I had that buildup on my proof of fire, Flashing #3 before. My pellet guy came out cleaned the contact. No issues ever since. Give that a try. If you have the free standing its located on the back/side left.
 
As always you guys have great suggestions:) I'll do some more checking on it tonight when I get home. I'll let you know what we find.
 
I woke up this morning to a house stinking like a camp fire. Checked the stove..........flashing #3 light.
Noticed the door handle pointing towards 8 o'clock, not the usual 5 o'clock. When I cleaned the glass
last evening I turned the handle the wrong direction which did not close the door tightly ;em. Check all
your doors and lids for a tight seal.

ToddO, hopefully all your bugs get worked out. I am going on 3 years with the stove, only issue so far
was a convection blower that got noisey.
 
Spoke with a gentleman from Sherwood this morning and explained to him all the issues I've had with my stove and he was extremely helpful. At this point he is thinking that it is the auger motor or circuit board. He also pointed out to me that dealers are not sending bad parts back to them so they can find out why parts are failing. I'll let you know what they find tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed it's something simple:confused:
 
I'm up and running again. The gears in the auger motor were gone. They believe it was due to the over heating issues I had last year prior to installing the additional auger plate (enviro was guessing i was running between 80 & 90K BTU's). So I am really hoping this stove performs like it should now :) Now it's time to chew up some pellets
