My PVP tee actually broke, When I was cleaning(sorry no picture). The inner tube stuck to the tee cap and broke. Duravent said they will replace it, But it doesn't do me any good right now. So I sealed up inside and out to get it leak free. But next time its not gonna come off. I'm gonna bit the bullet and replace the whole vent. I like the ICC, But because its not rated for multifuel(and I do actually burn odd things ;sick ). It looks as though my only other choice is Selkirk.

Before I dive in, I'd just like to hear from the folks that are using Selkirk to get the skinny. I don't mind sealing the inside the house joints, Except the tee cap. And I hope they are easier to deal with than the PVP's.

TIA

just go with direct temp, all you'll have to seal is the adapter.

What about the tee cap. How hard is it to get off when you wanna clean it and what do you need to do to reseal it? Come on bro, Pass on some tips! :p

Its not available in my area(stove shops only have PVP), So I can't get me a look see(touchy feely) at it.

I just installed this about a week ago...no issues whatsoever. The DT pipe is great; slid together really easy...it's pre-lubed and has a nice little locking tang that keeps it together. Also used a chunk of their 14"-22" telescopic length - no leaks. I went with the 4" (6 5/8" outside diam) so needed the stove pipe adapter to attach to 4" Tee, then a 4" to 3" reducer to appliance adapter. The one thing you may not like is the tee cap - I had to silicone the heck out of it (didn't fit real tight from the beginning) and added 3 screws. Still wasn't satisfied so went and replaced that with a vacuum clean-out instead.

If you decide not to do the vacuum clean-out thing (you can just make it out on my avatar - little 90 degree fitting at the bottom), you likely will have to re-silicone cap each time you remove. It's more of a lid than a cap - friction fit. And for security, it really needs more than the one sheet metal screw in it the way it comes standard - I added two more just to be safe. I'll see if I can snap a pic of the stock one I removed to replace with the vacuum cap...

The part that my thumb is touching fits up inside the 4" pipe; I guess that would be considered the male end. The little lip at the bottom fits flush with the bottom of the tee. Hope this helps!

No need to remove the cap, when you have the right set up. ;)

I would really like to see a pic of the vacuum cleanout! That sounds cool!

Thanks for the help guys!

Now onto another issue. My stove doesn't have the outlet sticking out that far. Its recessed inside the chassis. I have added a 12" section of pipe with the PVP stuff(between the tee and stove adapter). I don't see lengths listed without the outer air passage. So I either need to make an alternate stove coller or order a section of pipe(remove the outer tube and the stand off thingies).

Smoke, If your not removing the tee cap, How do you brush the section of pipe that connects to the stove? I can't use a brush from the blower cavity. I can just sneak it in and send it towards the stove through the tee opening. And thats even a bit of a PITA. So I added a double tee 2 seasons ago. Figures thats whet broke! ;em

Hey Smoke
The Fresh air tube is 3" Diameter. Did you have to reduce it to 2" ? If so how?
I cannot find a metal 3" to 2" adapter.

Selkirk DT is the way to go! I installed it on a Hudson River West Point with a 3" fresh air pipe on the back.
See my pics here

If anyone needs some, pm me with your email

Don, can you get BioVent? see next post!

You should be able to get adapters at the auto parts store for the OAK. FYI.

Smoke Show beat me to it...see his post above - he's got a nice shot of the vacuum tee adapter. Have not tried it yet since my stove has only been installed for a week, but it looks like it'll work great.

I also have the Selkirk DT and like it a lot. Mine is pellet vent only though. They have different ratings based on materials so order carefully.

I haven't taken my tee cap off yet and don't plan to any time soon really. I can see in through the stove exhaust port and into the back of the tee. I run the linteater from outside all the way to the bottom of the tee with my shop vac running so it cleans it pretty good. Still would like the vacuum tee cap to make sure I'm getting the bottom of the tee spotless.

Jay- I'll try to remember how this works. The tee and adapter is their VP series pipe. The DT series starts right above the tee with the transition piece that has the OAK hookup. I'll go snap a pic from the other side. I have never cleaned the short horizontal portion of the tee. that stove doesn't see much action, and my Mt V upstairs has the top vent adapter, so no tee. My dealer actually puts together 3 kits. A direct vent, a up and out, and a out and up. Its great, everything you need and then some. Any leftover parts can be returned and refunded.

I didn't reduce it, just crushed it with the hose clamp. That stove is sitting on concrete, with concrete wall behind it.

If combustibles were an issue I would have reduced it properly.

Looks like the kit I need is the 4DTM-UK multifuel. It doesn't use the VP series pipe because it has the AL29-4C Stainless Steel inner liner. Looks like I need to contact Selkirk on what I can use to extend the stove connection. Never easy is it? ;em

Yup- that would be the up and out kit that they put together. You just gotta add straight lengths and then what you need to use to extend the stove connection. Keep us posted and don't fall over from sticker shock! ;)

Heres a pic of the 4DTM-UK you mentioned. So the adapter and the tee aren't the VP series???

Oh I see, your saying the vp series isn't multi fuel rated?
