no doubt englander seems like a very good operation. But if your serious about getting a stove why do you go to Lowes. What do you think stove shops are for? Tiger Woods is a great golfer but i doubt he shops for clubs at Kmart. If you want a stove go to a stove shop and get a stove. The guys at Lowes selling that stove was a garden center pro until the season changed.

I don't know I'd give my 6041 a 'freaking awesome', but I'll give it a 'pretty darn good' rating. It'll eat good pellets and chit pellets and not complain. It hasn't let me down yet.

In my book, any pellet stove beats a propane or oil truck paying regular visits to my house.

I have a Quad, and this stove is so flipping awesome. Did I mention it was 4 this morning, and a high of 28 today?

You wonder why no one cries when their Bugatti is broken? Cause no one freakin has one.

Not true. Herb Chambers has one that I've seen in person when he was at a restaurant near my marina. Not a bad way to spend >1 million. In my opinion he is parked too close to the car on the left.

From what I've read, I would agree with Scott. I wouldn't recommend my Baby. That said I have had very little problems with it but I'm not thrilled with the design. My number one choice would be the Enviro Mini....a guy can dream :)

1. I was trolling for your answers
2. Smokey is correct I am planning the Hubby Revenge.
3. Wife dont read these so I am safe for moment.
4. I was told no for shop replacement stove.

But in all honesty the stove is a 1994.. and it does rattle on occasion from the fan. But it allways runs with just a little weekly TLC... and it it wont lite itself for her, and she isnt about to get her hands dirty.

Thanks for all the help
looking for a 1995 version now maybe.. that would be new er yes

Very much so. I couldn't believe it when I came around the corner and saw it.

honestly the most troublesome brand? actually it doesn't matter that much, any brand stove on the market is a solid brand, some have more "bells and whistles" some less, but it all comes down to understanding that any pellet stove can be reliable, and any pellet stove can be unreliable, a clean well maintained stove regardless of maker will be there when you need it to be. OTOH there isn't a stove on the market that can stand up to the stress of being run into the ground without maintenance.

i don't care who built it, i don't care how much it costs, i don't care who's name is on the data tag, if you take care of her, she will take care of you, if you ignore her she'll let you down when you need her the most.

Very well said!

thanks j,

seriously though folks, its an honest appraisal, i see stock that comes back to my factory every spring when my CS season ends and to be honest there is the occasional "whoopsie" but the VAST majority of what i see is simple neglect. i spend my summer months doing "autopsies"on returned stock, i bring my junior techs in and have them dissect these units and show me what they find issue wise (makes for great training BTW) i tear down a bunch of them as well, i see stuff that leaves me with a feeling of sadness at times, anger at times. im sure my counterparts in the industry do the same and probably have the same feelings.

manufacturers go to great pains to describe what is necessary to ensure folks will know how to care for their stoves, hell we shoot a video for each model of pellet stove and just give it away with each stove. some makers have followed our lead in this and are doing so as well (was a great idea if i can say so having pushed for it some 9 years ago when i sold the idea to our management (then got stuck with having to do them all, kidding its actually fun)) what it all boils down to people and i simply cannot stress this enough, its not a box you throw wood in, its an appliance with needs that are required to ensure it will last, it has moving parts, it has a need for care. you have to "sign on" to the program. the savings you will gain with a well maintained system are wonderful, and the "kind of heat" given by these machines are as comfortable as you will ever find, but this comes at a price, you have to give them the "sweat equity" take the time to maintain your stove, you'll find that you will brag to your friends just how wonderful that stove is. be recommending them to your friends, regardless of the brand, the cost of it, the features it has or doesn't have, you will find yourself thinking "ive got the best pellet stove on the market" no matter who built it.

whether its a "cheap charlie" big box unit or a 4K wonder of technology, the bottom line is the "most reliable" stove on the market isnt on the market, its the one already in a home where its being maintained properly.

Amen to that.

That's all great but the OP asked which the most unreliable stove... And that's the one that's already installed in your home with forty bags of inferno fines in the hopper, the fur of 19 cats circling around in the convection blower wheel, 17 years worth of recycling stacked around and on top of stove with cobweb adorning trinkets and wicker baskets galore....oh and add in the spillage of candle wax down the side of the control panel.

lol I am not saying anything... was just looking back and those seem to be the most talked about and maybe the englands.. that is why i am asking after your blood is raised youll give better answers.

Suggestion Dave,

You do not walk into the Detroit Auto show Bashing GM and Ford. You just do not do that as you walk in the door. I would like to suggest a Breckwell to you and after your purchase we will be hearing from you a lot.

Err, not so sure you want to go there Mike.

Yeah...good point.

I was thinking though, if the reasoning for wanting a new stove had to do with him or his wife or both not liking A, B and C about their current stove, the forum could suggest other brands/models that offer something more along the lines of what they are looking for, and they could take it from there when they are ready.

Now that i have the damper control on my Enviro figured out my stove is super flipping awesome

If you read first few posts that the OP made, he is perfectly happy with what he has now and she wants it all automated because dirt on hands is really a bad thing (tm).

These kinds of situations do not lend themselves to normal reason.

He goes looking for a long list of issues each model she is looking at has and she goes looking for what looks nice and believes the salespersons glowing descriptions of how automated and easy things are to maintain it (I see some of you folks out there laughing, quit it and go clean your stoves).

Automatic fireworks ensues.

Now being a man the OP isn't going to give up what is his turf without a fight and the opposition well lets just say she will exert her power over all things in the home.

Nope this is one to get some popcorn and watch the show.

I'm kinda disappointed with mine. Can't set the draft, adjust the trim, do the hi/lo thing. I feel like I've been cheated.;)

I know, I wanted to stay home and fiddle with the damn thing all day. But no, Harman built it so it runs without my input. Who does it think it is?
