I think I need some help. Hopefully some one will come up with something...and fast.

Not sure about you guys but early winter is my season for finding some wood, splitting and stacking for next year or later, then coming in and sitting by the fire getting toasty warm.

My problem is that as of Saturday I will be on a family vacation.....in Southern Florida! How am I suppose to go from working and enjoying wood to 80 degree weather with beaches and ocean waters?!?!

HELP! ! !

you could take some mix to smell. Or maybe some chains and files to play with. Or just go cold turkey.

Well, you won't be down there all winter - will you?

I mean, sheesh, who'd want to stay down there for very long in the winter.

You are right, just a week...maybe I can do this...just maybe?

Quit crying and think of your poor old stove not being fed for all that time. That stove is going to be hungry when you get back.

Good point....I was being selfish. Maybe I can convince my FIL to give it a few splits while I'm gone?

Good idea...anyone know what the airline policy on chains and files on carry ons are? "Stewardess, could you don't happen to have a vise do you?"

Maybe you can build a bonfire on the beach one night.

Or I wonder if they rent out wood stoves...I hear they rent out silly things like surf boards, certainly they rent out something much more practical than that for us northerners?

drink as much alcohol as you can...

Simple just get on Hearth.com daily and live vicariously through others stories!

Going on a cruise in the Carribean myself come mid-February . . . as hard as it will be to tear myself away from the woodstove and snowmobiling . . . I'll try to make it through the week . . . if not for me . . . for my wife . . . and this is my advice to you . . . do this not for yourself, but do it for your spouse -- I am sure they will appreciate the sacrifice you are making for them. ;)

You sir, with your unselfish attitude and dedication to your wife are an inspiration to us all

Do you have someone coming over to keep it fed? Sounds like stove cruelty charges could be filed if not?

Cheers and enjoy!

Can you get internet and cell reception on a cruise ship? That could be worse than Florida.

I think so . . . at exorbitant rates. This much I can safely say . . . you will not see or hear from me all that week.

I feel your pain. I'll be doing the same in about 10 days. What's more painful is that I have to turn the electric heat on when I'm not there to feed the stove.

You should be ashamed!!!! Cutting firewood will do your body a lot of good. If you really need to feel differently, then just put on you bathing suit or some flashy flowery shirts, wear some sandals and fire up that saw. You can do all this while staying at home and just think of the money you will save.
