I couldn't believe I scored all this for $8. How one comes up with a value of $8 for all this is beyond me, just wanted to get rid of it I guess. The "small guard" is 21", the smaller adjustable one opens to 25", and the large adjustable one opens to 35.5". Nate has a real nice 041 saw for sale too if anyone is interested, unfortunately he wants $225 for that!

Nice find Mike. Bit pricey on the 041 though. A C

Probably stolen =P

Wow...... You living this close hurts :( LOL

If that 041 is an AV saw, and if it's in REALLY good condition, I'd put out $150.00 or so for it. They are very good saws. I have two 041AV Supers (72cc instead of the standard 041's 61cc), I love them saws like no other. I can run 30" bars on them all day long, lots of torque. They are a tad heavy, but they are all magnesium and when you port the muffler, they have a sound like no other saw.....

Great deal on the guards and files, IMO.

Yeah, I did kick around the $175 price with him on it, but he was firm at $225 for now, and he didn't need any old ammo either :( . He has several other bigger saws, and had several other cheapos in parts in piles. He had 3 sections of a really big oak "Y" butt, slabbed out about 4" thick to make some "coffee" tables out of.

I got the first call to him as he was heading into work and couldn't use his phone till after work. He called me after work saying his phone was full of a ton of messages, but he honored my first call.

I guess that guy does live "over your way", huh, but then again you've never told me exactly where that is, so its hard to tell what's "your turf" :p . It helps to be retired too and able to run at a moments notice! Can you have one.......................... well, the big one is already on the 460 with the 28", the next one on the 440 with the 25", and the shorter 21" on the 360 with the 24"....................... but I do have 3 short wimpy ones available now...........

Maybe, but I don't think so, at least they were cold to the touch. The guy had a bunch of saws and parts around, big pile of wood out back, slabs of oak he was making into tables, said something about knowing a stihl dealer out near him that closed up a while back. That's the story and he's sticking to it. ;)

Bar scabbards are cheap Dex. At least they were last time I looked. You can buy just the extentions to add to the wimpy 16" one that came with the saw.

As for Boog, well, he's gotta run outta ammo eventually. :p

I was just out past there the other day, went to Buckyrus, could have stopped by. Traded a guy a Nissan 9.8 hp 4-stroke outboard that I'd been trying to sell for a nice Remington 1100 20 ga with 2 barrels and the balance cash. The gun is for my 13 year old daughter (she doesn't know I have it yet). The cash is for me to grab those saws where they don't want to trade for ammo! ;) Now I can see why it will take you 2 hrs to get here! I'll try and stay away from the mansfield CL stuff although I did call that guy with the two saws, the 029 and the 210C for $300.

hey boog you any good at porting saws? Never tried it myself but want to give the 290 a lil boost

No, I've never done any but I've been reading the threads here and some at the Arborists site and I'm thinking of giving it a go. Seems like the simplest thing to do first is the muffler mod with carb adjustment. See what that gives you and then decide if you want to try more serious porting from there. I might experiment first with one of the 031AV I have and see how it turns out. That way, if I screw it up, it won't be any great loss, and I can fix it relativly cheaply with used parts from ebay. I need to research the actual cylinder porting more to understand the changes being made there.

Yeah. I thought I mentioned it before. But yeah I am prob 2 hrs away.

My Wife just went to the E.R. a little bit ago. Dont know whats wrong yet ? But pending whats wrong with her?( thinks its stones). I may not come up for a morning hunt. Her condition will determine my endeavors (kids need someone) :)

Sorry to hear about your wife, hope everything turns out ok. Let us know how it turns out man. Don't worry about hunting, if it happens to work out thats fine. No one else is going to be out there this weekend. I do have two guys who are going to bow hunt through the rest of the season out back. One of them is teaching his 7 year old daughter to hunt. I'm done hunting so I'm just cutting now when the ground is hard enough to get back there. Later!

Hey Dex, hang in there buddy. Is she OK?

Yeah. She should be fine. But my hunting plans this weekend at Boog's may be spoiled.

It was not stones. But rather a large Cyst on her Ovary :( We have to go to another Doc tomorrow to talk about removal. :(

She is out on the couch next to me now. God bless her.

Thanks A C

Bummer about hunting, but on the bright side Boog ain't that old yet, He'll probably last till next time.>> Best to take care of the misses & make the best of it. Maybe give ya a little down time to surf CL & beat him to a good deal on a saw or something else cool. Best wishes & prayers to your wife for a speedy recovery. A C
