I had to replace the top of the chopping block as it had worn completely through, I add a couple of extra layers of plywood to the top.

The other problem was the tire was not tall enough, and would tend to move around and fall off.
I screwed the tire to some pieces of 4"x4", and built a skirt around them to keep everything in place on the chopping block. Should work much better now.

Would seem to me you will hit the wood on top with your handle? I have noticed the tighter you have the logs in there the less they tend to fall out...

I've seen where some folk will turn a tire inside out. That makes it taller and kind of funnel shaped.

I think he flips it over and the tire is on the top.

Good idea! Bet the copperheads 'round here would love it, though.

You used your "winter tread".
I guess winter not coming this year LOL :)

A pic with it full of splits please ;)

Alright first off how do you not destroy your axe handle on the frame ? Secondly Where are all the splits WES ? HMM ;):p Actually it looks kinda like Richard Dean Anderson ( MacGyver ) made it out of a piece of hair and a grain of sand ! ;lol Nice Job !

Happy Holidays
Pete

The first pic shows the tire/frame upside down ( to show the construction), I could not get the other pic show as a full image.

It will show up of you click on where it says "attached files pdr_0001.jpg", this is the correct orientation.

I clicked and nothing so I went to the other computer and walla there it is ! That looks pretty cool and functional nice job Wes !

Now we see the plan :)
