Banks in my area will not go near a house without a conventional fuel source. They dont want to be stuck with a house that cant be kept warm if they end up owning it. Pellet boilers with remote fills systems like Me Energy Systems are okay but anything that needs daily attendance isnt going to fly.

I know of houses with outside wood fired boiler's, there very common up north VT/NH/Maine, wonder how those would make out?

Outside boilers still count as "supplemental heat" and buyers (the most important demographic when selling your home) aren't as confident without a traditional heat source. The truth of the matter is, it's a numbers game. Your home needs to appeal to the widest margin of buyers available. By not having a traditional heat source, you are effectively handicapping your home. Even as someone with a pellet stove, I would feel uncomfortable purchasing a home that didn't have some sort of "central" heating system.

Even if you could find a buyer, the amount the house would sell for without a traditional heat source versus having a new boiler installed would probably pay for the install plus.

With most solid fuel heat sources, they need frequent feeding in order to continue working. In a cold climate, the insurance company and bank have to deal with the fall out if, for some reason, you are unable to return to your home and feed the heater. The insurance company may be on the hook for damage due to burst frozen pipes. Without the concurrence of an insurance company, the banks are unlikely to take the risk on a mortgage. They are after all responsible for protecting the interests of their investors.

I'd love to unhook my oil furnace exhaust and use a pellet in the basement, it would be temporary, or why couldnt i just run a 3" flexpipe up my cleanout into the flue??

I think you will find that you have to run the 3" flex to the top of the flue or you will have combustion problems. I don't entirely understand the why of it, but that is what I have read.

Currently i have a 20' of 3" SS flexpipe/liner up to the top of my chimney, i know i should of went 4", but thats too late, so far 4 yers and it's been ok, only once had a clog due to a black creosote chunks built-up, a leafblower flush cleared it out.
I'm picking up a stove tommorow and hooking up in basement, thinking of running a 3" ss flexpipe up in the oil furnace flue cleanout, up a few feet inside the flue, i dont use my oil furnace at all.

I agree but keep in mind their primary interest is to make money. Many will simply offer a very high premium and if the customer bites, so be it. Its simply a high risk situation and the price will reflect that fact.
