Alternate handles for NC-30

Looking to replace my gold handles with wood or maybe another material?

Anybody found any place to purchase?

Someone on here did this over the summer. I think the username was Bub something or other Bob Urban. He made a cast iron handle to replace the gold spring handle.

Just aesthetics, nothing wrong with the gold. Just wanted something different.

I was thinking a wooden handle would be easy to find but haven't seen anything. Don't want to buy anything that wouldn't be safe but I have seen plenty of stoves with wooden handles. The gold just doesn't go with the rest of the room. Its all old wood and black metal.

You could repaint the gold.

Steve Slatter sells prefinished nice looking wood handles on his web site for the Elm.

They come in 2 different styles even though the pic only shows the short one.
No reason why they wouldn't adapt to anything.

I did mine for asthetics because I just do not like the look of the gold trim pkg that came with the stove. I also had an extra drawer pull from when I remodeled my kitchen that is brushed nickle identical to the knob on the dust pan that I installed - for the record that is a standard drawer pull and ANY single threaded drawer pull will work. Just an FYI if you are changing yours out and looking for options - look at HD, LOWES, Wally World - they all will work. I have yet to do anything with the primary air control but eventually will fab up something to match the handle I made. I just have the little rod sticking out and it doesn't get hot so I left it.

For wood(if you have access to a lathe?) you could easily create something nice from a burl or crotch wood that you could drill out and press fit. Over time, like most wood handles, I am sure it would shrink and crack but you could make a few or make them as needed if the tools were available. Any cool piece of wood, part of an old piece of furniture, tool handle, etc... could be drilled and press fit. Be creative - cost is minimal other than time. A deer antler may look nice depending on the decore of your home?
