Just a start to keep my stash growing and remain 3+ years ahead. Last year I had 10 cord CSS'd and my goal is to at least repeat this annually until I fill up my wind swept storage area :) Stash includes Oak, Ash, Maple, Cherry and Elm at this point. Some just drug up with my skidder waiting to be bucked, others bucked and waiting for the splitter and some already split. I am ahead of last years schedule because we have actually had some frozen ground here this year but lately it has warmed up making swamp logging tough. Hoping the cold weather comes back soon :)

could never be too far ahead....keep scroungin'

Hello BobUrban I like your posts...like to hear from you. Most of you guys are from Michigan. Your list of trees sounds very similar to mine here in NY. Great peaceful looking place you have to cut and work trees. Easy to get to them. High and dry. So what is your Skidder?
Were you commenting earlier on a guys thread about getting to some Ash wood at the bottom of a hill? And your advise was to leave it till spring? They were talking about chains and going backwards and keeping the bucket low to the ground?
If that was you who said "leave it", I thought that sounded like the best advise.
Well just curious what you are skidding with.

Looking good, Bob. Lots of wood there to keep you busy. Not sure about your area, but it is gonna get downright MISERABLE here in central PA. It's raining cats and dogs right now, and it's supposed to get up near 60 the next couple of days so with the snowpack and the thaw, it's gonna be a miserable mess.......no cutting or gathering this weekend.....

Nice looking work there Bob. Man the weather is looking bad tomorrow, but it looks like it's going to cool down and freeze up starting Sunday. anyway nice woodin there Bob.

I am in Vegas for the weekend and it is colder here than when I left Michigan. High of around 40 with lows at night in the 20's. Fortunately I am not here on vacation and just working. We have a Medical training center out here and I will be in the OR all weekend so hopefully when I return I will have some cold weather coming with me on Monday.

For the poster asking about my skidder it is just a one log(sometimes two) skidder I fabbed up for my quad. It mounts into the reese style hitch I made and I notch the logs with my saw and set them on a piece of angle that can rotate so they just track behind the bike. I have pics on my other computer I will share when I get home or just do a search of posts I have made. I am pretty sure I have some on "Hearth" already from last winter.

Before I left is was raining and mudding up pretty bad in Michigan too.

Bob, I'm not sure when you took those pictures but can tell you that is more snow than we've had all season so far. It has almost all missed us. And as expected, we did lose the frost. It was still enjoyable cutting today and was 58 when we headed out. 55 when we finished. A bit of mud on the shoes but we got some stuff that was on the ground that we've wanted to get. Believe it or not, we've cut about 4 or 5 cord so far and still have not felled a tree yet this year! Won't have to for a while yet either because we still have a lot of downed stuff compliments of that July storm.
