Zero clearance issue

New member long time lurker. Great forum. I own a farm with a circa 1810 house. House has an addition from 1990. The addition has a zero clearance fireplace. Well the single piece back wall of fire "brick" has started to crack and disintegrate. This seems to be a safety issue and so I have not been using it for the last couple of seasons. Which has been fine with me since the zero clearance only seems to add heat with the blower on and the blower is loud as all get out. But the GF wants a pretty fire. So can I find a replacement piece for the insert? Are there slabs of "brick" for sale that I can cut to size with a diamond blade?

You may have to call for pricing. IIRC, they're less than OEM refractories...They can be cut to whatever size you need with a circular saw...

Geez. Guess I missed the location. I was looking for the product.
I'd say to check with your local chimney/hearth supply store.
They probably stock something similar.

Thanks guys. My problem is I loath my local stove company. Very poor customer service when it doesn't involve buying a new stove.

Just google Skamolex & see what pops up in your area. That may lead you to somewhere other than the hearth guy you want to avoid...
