In The Woods
I filled up the rhino with gas then took off, had mother nature take the top off a small quaking aspen, then up the trail a bit we had a small hemlock down which I took care of.

I noticed a tree down on the hill that runs the length of the brook, I was on the backside of the hill on the main trail which is a lot lower, took the walk up to find two beech so come spring or even before I'll see how good they are.

On the way back I noticed the cherry mother nature split, up the hill from the cherry it looks like mother nature topped off another tree.

On the way out I ran up in to the bowl, another beech down. Pics 6679,80,81 & 6700 are the trail clean up,6684 is the beech,6685 is looking down from the beech,6688,6691 are the cherry, 6693 is the topped off hardwood (I hope),6696 is the beech in the bowl and the last pic is the trail where I cleaned up the blow down.

Like me, you will never catch up. ;lol Nice assortment of woods, there. Mmmm, Cherry... Need me some more Cherry.
It's in the mid-twenties and windy here but I'm going out to hand-split some Ash; That should keep me warm enough. ==c At least it's down in the woods where the wind is less...

Busy man

So much wood, so little time.

Sounds like fun!

I wish I had some property to maintain and harvest wood on.

I can't wait to hit some of the other hills, I'm thinking we have more down from this last wind storm, more beech from what my eyes were telling me. The one spot has some trees that have been down for a few years blocking that trail, quaking aspen & basswod so I never cleared it.

We have a good size quaking aspen that was topped off, never did get the picture but it's a true widowmaker, I'll get a pic once more snow is gone.

TimJ, the hill the beech is on is west facing so it gets hot so your correct that it will be the first unless we have a better bigger beech.
Cross Cut, never enough time but we'll get what we can.
loadstarken, it's always nice to spend time in the woods, a good place to forget about all the chit going on.

Looks good!! I have been watching and waiting for the wind to help me with a few ash and got my wish the other night on one of them. Love when Ma nature helps bring them down

The trail for up top is open enough to run (pic) so if we don't get any snow this week I'll make the run, we'll see what Mother Nature did for us in that area.

Mother Nature can really be tough on some woods. Today I was at a friend's place and we took a drive through his woods. Wow! I'd bet with a dozen people cutting, they would take several years to clean it all up. Downed stuff all over. Bad part is there is lots and lots of PI on many of his trees. Some huge vines too. Sort of makes one itch just thinking about it.

Not any PI yet that I've seen, I'm sure it's out there. Had that nasty chit when I was a kid.
