Well I am on the hunt for some pellets! So far the green labled Lignetics burn hot, but have alot of ash and fines. Also when there burning the exhaust outside stinks, not that it matters but i will get to that. The second brand I have been burning is Powerhouse. They throw alot of heat, very little fines, and ash, and when there burning you can be right next to the exhaust and never smell a thing. The problem with them is They make ash cakes. I can not call them clinkers cause there not rock hard, They will break apart in your hand. So here are my options and I am going to start buying 2 bags of each, and give them a test.
1. Stove Chow
2. O malley
3. Power Pellets
4. Cheat river
5.Premium wood pellets
6. Press to Logs
7. Thurmans(To expensive and would have to drive 45 mins )

Now with the Gc 60 It will burn darn near anything, So I am going to try these out, and experiment. I called The plant for Somersets, but she said Maryland is done till next fall! Any input would be great

I'd be interested to know what you think. I'm burning lignetics now and picked up some cheat river after scoring them for 3.5 a bag. They seem to have comparable heat, but maybe a little more as with cheat river. Omalleys are ok, more ash than lignetics, ok heat. My dealer exclusively sells omalleys but I'm not that much into them.

Very cool. I've burned ligs, presto logs and stove chow. The presto logs had a lot of fines. The heat between the 3 was the same.

What mode were you running while burning the PowerHouse pellets? Pretty sure if you ran them in Regular mode the ash cakes would break up. The agitator runs more in Regular mode than in Premium mode. I would only use Premium mode for super premium pellets.

Hmm intersting Jay, maybe I will switch that out tonight. I have never changed from premium mode!

I see alot of you are burning lignetics. Are you seeing the fines, and ash like I am? Also The exhaust with lignetics will give you a headache if you walk outside. I just picked up 2 bags of premium pellets from TSC, there being fed to the monster tommorrow.

I think I may have found a sleeper. I burned all the old pellets out, scrpaed the burn pot, emptied the ash pan, and did a quick vaccum. These pellets had minimal fines in the bottom of the bag, and man do they burn hot, with a nice white and orange flame. This is a first for me, I have always been able to touch the top of the stove and the sides without burning myself. Not with this Pellet! I am going to run the second bag through and if the ash is minimal Im going to get a ton. I was running on setting 3, but that was to hot with these, living room got up to 76 and was still climbing. Its 15 degrees out right now, setting 2 and living room is at 72 degrees. I am pleased.

The chows that I have been burning were made 3/12. Burn well, ash is on high side, heat is good,,,I would not burn them in my home when temps are below 20, but for 3.99 a bag enough said.

I am still going to pick up some stove chows, but right now I like these premium pellets. I love finding a good pellet that will not break the bank!

I have to clean the chunks from my burnpot every half a bag but...they burn well. Somersets are cleaner and hotter

I'm on my second bag of Mcfreeters and so far I like them compared to the Canadian Bio Fuel pellets, theres more heat and less ash.
Also picked up 2 bags of the Isabella pellets from TSC also will try them in another day or so.

Well it has been a while since I updated this thread. The premium hardwood pellets are great. I bought a ton and have been burning them. I have noticed little fines, good heat, but some ash buildup. I have no regret buying a ton, and they keep the house warm even on a low setting. My next adventure is pres to logs. I picked up 2 bags, cleaned the stove top to bottom, and threw them in there this afternoon. So far I have noticed the pellet is dusty, but very few fines. They burn hot, I can not keep my face near the stove looking at the fire, the flame is very white, and so far no clinkers. I am looking froward to see how the ash build up is.
