I have an exterior pre-fab 30 foot chimney running up an outside chase. What is the minimum vertical stovepipe length coming off the Oslo's top flue before going horizontal? I know the Lennox Country line requires 2 feet whereas the Lopi line requires 84 inches. I would like to keep the vertical pipe less than 18 inches with a double wall stove pipe before making a 90 degree turn into the thimble. My horizontal run will be about 18 inches.

I'm not sure that Jotul manual gives that measurement. I don't remember seeing it. Since you have 30' of vertical, I'd say you would be fine with double wall pipe. Do you mean an 18" length and then the 90? Either way it should be fine.

My Jotul Oslo has no vertical pipe at all. It rear exits horizontally and goes right through the wall thimble.

My Oslo is a rear exit also and the chimney is 16', no problem at all with draft.

With 30' of pipe you will be fine whichever direction you choose to follow.

That's another option for me. What does it go into - prefab chimney or masonry? Also, if prefab, how high and do you have any draft problems? Thanks for your response.

Sorry to respond to this so late. To answer your question, the wall thimble goes to the tee and up 23' of prefab chimney. I don't have any real draft issues now that I got the learning curve out of the way ;) .
