Harman P Series vs XXV

I only have the P43 (house is 900sq/ft) but compared to my out of date Baron its quiet, almost too quiet because I have to check on it that its still running. My only complaint is that I can't get the heat moving around the house, can't find any blade fans in the stores right now. Living room install is what I wish I had done. I have the stove in my computer room and on my Mac I only have it at 4 bars and can hear it fine vs the stove fan on high.
 
Went with the XXV. Thanks for the help. Can't wait to get it installed. But I will have to since my friend doing the hearth cut the end of his finger off. Guess I will wait until the warmer months and do it then. Will post pics.

I've got mine in the living room and it's not that loud. You get used to it. The blower could be a little quieter but I'd rather have a little noise than be cold all the time.

Just adding my $0.02 since I own a P61a and it's in the living room where the TV is. When we have the TV on we turn the fan down to the halfway point. Still keeps us toasty and we can hear the TV just fine. As for sweating us out, the thing I learned fast about a pellet stove is that it will only blow you out of a room if you want it to.

I think the XXV is a beautiful stove and it was my first choice, but I was fortunate - my wife said "whatever will keep us warm when it's -10 outside is fine with me" so I saved some $ and got the P61a. I probably could have went with the P43, but the P61a did very nice for us last week when it was -10 outside. No complaints here.

As for looks, no complaints there either.

Well said. My stove is about 5 feet from the TV in the living room. The stove becomes white noise. Not nearly as noticeable as many people make it sound.

Same here Mike as I'm glad we got the p61 instead of the p43. I think the 43 would have been maxed out last week. Plus I like the look of the p series stoves. Simple.

I had consecutive nights last week in the -25 degree range NOT counting wind chill and my P61A kept most of my house around 68 -70 degrees. The only thing I did to maintain this was move the feed rate up to about 4.5 and turn the fan setting about 3/4 of the way to its highest setting.

I should add that my stove is in my living room which has windows all along one side of it. They're double pain Andersen's that are at least 15 years old (they were installed when I bought the house in 2001). Despite the heat loss that occurs through all these windows, the P61A still kept the house at a relatively consistent temperature.
 
Chain, I think what jslinger was worried about was the 61a being to powerful for them. In warmer weather does your blast you out of the room/house?

No, not at all. I simply turn it down to the room temp. I desire and it basically idles. Keep in mind, however, that I run mine in Room temp./manual so the fire never goes out but just cycles way down and the distribution fan shuts right off. If I put it in Room temp./ auto, the fire would go out completely and just reignite when the probe sensed the room temp. dropping below the setting on the stove.

I've never used what is called "stove temp." setting so maybe in that setting it would blow you out of the room. All things considered, I've found that the P61A's probe is very accurate and controls the heat output extremely well.

I think anything scrapes better than the Harman tool
 
Just payed for it today. $4500 installed. Plus around $1,000 for the hearth.
It probably won't be installed until it is warm out, but that won't stop me from using it. Let's see how hot I can get the house.
 
Which color did you get? I love the look of the enamel.
 
I went with black. I have always been a fan of simple and clean looking. The dealer had one in red, but it was covered in finger prints.
 
I can use it for a scraper or on an intruder. Multi tool.
