How far would you drive to get pellets?

I unloaded a truckload of Brand-X pellets this morning and the driver wanted me to re-load a ton of Turman on the back of his truck for him. He paid me cash for the pallet and told me it was for his boss (who owned the truck) who had heard of these pellets and wanted him to pick one up and bring it back to him so he could try them. The driver said that his boss learned about them on this website....So if you are that man, Please PM me- I would love to talk to you or better yet, use you as a testimonial!
Understand that I have had customers come here from Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Jersey before, especially when there were shortages in 2005 and 2008. But this one takes the cake....Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada! I just googleed it and it is over 2700 miles away. This one doesn't officially count, because the driver's trek was really to deliver me a load and the load originated only about 300 miles from my warehouse, but technically...well, it's a grey area. The driver said he is headed from here going to Vermont to pick up a load of stone to bring back to Syracuse, and then eventually find loads going back in his direction, at which time his boss gets the Turmans.
Anyways,....who here has driven to great lengths to get a specific brand of pellets that they wanted?

When I first moved to Maine (12 years ago) with my Quest Pellet stove I actually drove 6 hours round trip for two tons of pellets. Then the following year I drove 4 hours round trip for more pellets. Now there are more dealers in the area carrying quality pellets and at most I now drive 1.5 hours round trip.

For me with the choices available? Its not worth the extra time-fuel-hassle.........If the choices weren't so good locally? I guess I'd be looking at it totally different.

My pellets come to me! Although I did drive 3/4 of a mile away for my Okie score. Delivery is cheaper after I figure in fuel and my time.

My first ton I drove 2 and 1/2 hour round trip to get the pellets right from the manufacteur.

Only thing close to me is big box and a stove dealer with NEWP. Therefore I'm about 2 hours round trip if I want better pellets. In addition, my truck can only do about 30 -35 bags at a time so if I want 2 ton, I'm looking about 3 trips. It would be great to have a dealer here in the armpit of the universe that sold good pellets and delivered.

I've gone 15-20 miles but stopped that years ago because after the
time spent and gas money is added up it makes more
sense to buy from the pellet house down the street from me.

About 3 hrs Round trip (nice little Stove shop in North East Ohio)

Can be as short as 5 miles, but its mostly 45 min to Menards (cheap Sets)

5th season burning. I've only bought pellets from my dealer. 10 miles one way. Good pellets, no need to look elsewhere.

My truck is limited to 1 ton per trip. Maybe 20 miles round trip max..and they'd have to be <$220.....any more and it consumes too much time and gas. Specifically, I'm speaking of MWP blends at TSC in the next town over. It's rare any worthy brand shows its face in these parts.

4.7 miles to the local place that sells Barefoots. Depot and TSC are even closer for shoulder stuff.

would not drive more then 20 miles. after that it is cheaper to have them delivered. I usually go to the box store when i am in the area and pick up 15 bags or if i am getting a ton I rent there truck for 20 bucks. For better pellets I have the local shop deliver them. they only charge 35 for delivery.

add to that loading your car/truck and time spent doing said trip. Is it worth the savings to have someone else do most of the work

1/2 hour and they HAVE to be good stuff! Shoulder pellets are just 15 minutes away in four directions.

13 miles to Menards, 15 miles to Home Depot, 19 miles to Lowes, 15 miles to the stove shop. I can only haul a half ton at a time in the old truck. Might break down and just have 4 ton delivered this spring if they have specials at the stove shop. It would save a lot of back and forth, not to mention just having them wheeled right into the garage.

X2 - The fact that I can have 3 or 4 tons dropped right in my garage where they stay until they are burned without me ever touching them for under $100 in delivery is well worth it to me.

My dealer is 20 miles away for country boys. I can haul 3 ton on the trailer and unload it with the skid steer right into the garage.
