im new to this site , the info is great and a very good forum . i have loved fisher stoves for 30 years . just bought a1986 single door brass glass honey bear non mobile home model want to put the cast bear legs on it instead of pedastal base. coaly this question is sort of to you. i was hoping maybe you would know where i might find a set for sale . or if anyone else has a set for sale please give me a call my number is 304-667-3372 im in lewisburg wv .also if anyone has info or opinion on this stove i would like to learn about it . first one i have ever seen for sale got it for good deal i think $200 its in excellent shape. im going to clean it up and paint it. will post pics when done . any help would be greatly appreciated .. thank you

Mike, Welcome to the Forum, and congrats on the find.
We need pictures of this thing !!
If this is something rare, I'll start a new thread with your original post.

I've only seen the single door Honey Bear in the freestanding model with 4 legs. All the pedestal models have had double doors. (and older than '86) Is there a tag that states it's a Honey Bear?

As far as I know, the stoves were made either in pedestal or freestanding styles. The optional furniture or bear legs mount where the standard legs are bolted to each corner under the freestanding stove. The pedestals I've seen don't have a lip around the bottom to match the radius on the removable legs. This overhang keeps the leg from rotating and pulls tight to the stove bottom corner.
I've only seen welded pedestals that are not removable. Never heard of anything different. If this is what you have, it would loose it's UL rating if modified. You certainly don't want to cut the pedestal off this rare of a model, if that's the case.

Does the tag have where it was made and manufacturer name? By then they were available through distributers and sold at many hardware stores, plumbing shops, or any retailer that wanted to add revenue to their sales.

thanks for the response nice to meet u guys . the pedastol comes off by removing 3 bolts .there are nuts welded in each corner to accept legs.the door is solid brass with fisher cast in bottom right corner . the corners are rounded to accept legs . it has a heat shield on back that curves up at top .the pedastol is three sided open in back.air vent is in middle bottom of stove above pedastol . the tag on right side of stove says warnoc herzig And fisher stoves . I will take pics tommorrow and post . any thoughts about what I have will be appreciated . googled this stove 4 hrs last night found very little . thanks mike

coaly the stove does have a lip around the bottom and also has what i believe is a secondary burn chamber shelf with a small slot opening across .it sort of looks epa inside to me . thanks mike

this is the exact stove that i have except mine has the removable pedestal mount . i think the bear legs look great. thats why i want a set . this is the only pic i could find that is exactly my stove . mine is in this shape but is dusty and the brass is not polished and is dull from sitting in a garage for 20 years

Here's the stove you found the picture of Mike. It belongs to mtn man on this forum.

Notice the double question mark after my guess of what he had. (post #6)

Here's his updated thread with finished stove;
https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/someone-help-identify-this-old-fisher-update.95446/

Until a stove like these surfaces with a readable tag, we won't know what it's called. I don't have this stove shown on any Fisher literature I have.
Also notice I mentioned IF it was 20" wide, and measurements were needed.
**Width of top plate, outside box dimension, and door opening size of these stoves will verify if we're on the same page.**

The problem with tags, and the only info I can give you is from welded pedestal type, (residential) is the tag is a metallic sticker, very small, about the size of a playing card. Adhesive only, applied all the way at the bottom, next to floor plate where it is most difficult to read. The print is so small, it takes a magnifying glass to see it. They called it "Freestanding Pedestal Honey Bear" and the welded pedestal is 3 sided, open in the back. Here's a picture of a tag, maybe it will help mtn man compare to his tag?

The defining thing on the stove in resemblance to the Honey Bear (other than size when known) is the ash fender with no edge trim. All other pedestals (Goldi and Teddy) had the 1 inch channel iron as used for door seals around the edge. Honey Bear had a steel stamped ash shelf with holes in the outer corners.

Every stove has an exception when it comes to Fisher ! With so many fabricators making them, all sorts of variations can be found.
Here's a Honey Bear with rounded fender with edge trim! Notice the length of door handles that are the same size as full size stove's handles. This is the way to determine a Honey Bear in a pic since the stove body is so small compared to the hardware.

Sized your picture Mike, I did the same with mtn mans threads to allow faster loading. When posting pics, always choose "thumbnail" to get the smaller picture to post.
Full size pictures on the Fisher Forum threads are hosted on other websites. (or I just haven't gotten to 'em yet)

mtn man my stove is identical to yours everything except it sits on a bolt on pedastol. my stove has a metal tag pop riveted on right side of stove and is in very readable shape .on the tag it has the name of the person who built it . i will try to upload the picture i took and hopefully yyou can read it . mr jones i am new at forums i didnt know how to start new thread ,im sorry if i encroached on this one . maybe coaly could move mine ??

I moved all posts pertaining to your stove to a new thread Mike.

Hey Mike, my stove measures 20x20 and was built for pedastal or bolt on legs too. It just didn't have either when I started my project. My tag was rivited on right side too but to demolished to read. Also had a label rivited on the ash pan that was missing. Curious to see what yours says. It reallys puts some heat out and have really enjoyed burning it and learning how to operate it to perform the best way. Mine is heating almost 2000 sq ft.

Here's the best pictures of mtn mans stove I've got. He sent them to me as he was restoring his stove.
I keep them with many others in a file named "Undocument Fishers".

Was the tag huge like this Honey Bear ?

Honey Bear after 8.jpg

My "Freestanding Pedestal" double door Honey Bear measures 20" across top plate.
The box is 19" square outside.

ok the first time i looked at tag i didnt see it but it says honey bear right on it, dont know how i missed it .. the tag is the same size as pic. it is 20x20 . thank you coaly for moving post i guess this is not a mystery stove any more . it is definitely a honey bear . if all goes good my pics should be coming in a minute

guys i apologize cant get pics of cell phone so i will take with camera because i know how to load those . probably tommorrow or sunday

We don't like phone pics anyway. ;)
Is the tag the same as the tags pictured in post #13 , or the large tag as shown in post #18? None pictured in #13 at pedestal are are rivited on, they are all stickers.

Can I ask what it measures across top plate??

Go to one of his posts, and under everyones name and avatar is a "Start a Conversation". By clicking it, you will get a page just like a forum page but it will post only to him. Same as a 'Private Message' in most forums.
I think he was down to his last set for himself. They do come up on ebay occasionally.

Your stove makes more sense after reading the tag ! Your first post says "single door brass glass honey bear non mobile home model". So I had no clue as to what you had. The tag reads it IS mobile home certified with use of intake air kit (supplied by DuraVent with rodent guard) and mobile home pedestal. (intake air through floor from under mobile home) So, yeah, I know what you've got.

To install in conventional housing, you need either the residential pedestal, (uses inside air and raises stove higher than legs) or legs with the radiation shield. (UL testing is done with these in place to come up with floor clearance) So you'll need to figure out if you have the mobile or residential pedestal if you use it.
Below is the radiation shield for lowered leg use. This is easily fabricated. Shield was discussed here as well;
